N80RK - I'm pretty certain you do need a telephone line available to get the free box, not sure but one of the questions they asked me was whether I had a phone line.

Well ..... I got my Sky+ fitted for free today & it was a brand spanking new white box I received. They didn't need to do any further drilling either, just threaded the cable through the same hole. Am really pleased with it & have now upgraded my Sky package to include movies, so Sky will be benefiting in the long run from this freebie.
  • hi all,
i just want to thank everyone in this thread for giving me the confidence to call sky and ask for a better deal after being a loyal customer for the last 7 years.i know theres probably people who have been with them longer, but i felt that after paying for top packages and sometimes wanting to cancel i have got a little something back!!!

i have got an installer calling on sunday with a free brand new box and free installation and i am thrilled.
it took a bit of convincing myself but after seeing all the others on here who were brave enought ask, i did the same.

it will save lot of hassle next year too when my big brother and mr scousechild16`s super league clash!!

    thank you!!:money: :D :money: :D :money: :D :money: :D :money:

I have been out of my contract on SKy + for a few months and thought I would phone them to see if I could get a some sort of deal for renewing a 12 month contract .... on the 4th attempt i asked to be put through to cancellations where I spoke to someone who knew what they were talking about AND on Saturday I will be receiving my new free SKY+ box and free installation.

i too have had sky+ for over a year so if i phoned what would i get? would it just be a new sky + box to replace old one or sky+ multiroom?

thanks and well done to you for whatever you got.
  • For those of you that have had your new Sky plus installed could you please tell me what make of box you got and how much hard drive is on it?

    I want to be prepared.

It's just the basic Sky+ package that you get. I think to receive the multi-room is an extra £10 per month. You should stand a very good chance of getting it for free or even the reduced rate of £49 as you have been with them for over a year. Just be firm and stand your ground!!!
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  • Mine has just been fitted and it is an amstrad DRX280 brand new! and all for (free)having the nerve to make a phone call.
Thank you to all who have posted on this thread:beer:

Like Horsewagon I also got a brand new Amstrad DRX280 - the bloke who installed it said I'd be able to record around 40 hours worth with that. I like the fact it is so much quieter than my old Sky box, just waiting for the nasty burning plastic smell to go away though

I am also having free sky + installed on Thursday, Do they put a new dish up.What do i need to do to use the old sky box in another room upstairs.
  • They didnt put a new dish up.the engineer said that he needed to run a second cable from the dish to the box.He followed the original cable and drilled a second hole in the wall for the cable to fit.
I have no idea how to set up a second box as we only have the one tv.

:j and now if programs clash we can sky+ them!!!!!:j
  • I had the engineer round this afternoon to fit Sky+. I asked him about putting the old box in another room and he said he just needed to run another cable from the dish to where it needed to go. He quoted me £70 to do it including the Sky Freeview card which is about £20 which I didn't think was too bad.

I bet I could do it myself if I could find the right info on the web!
