  • Hello all again! Well I dont think my last post made it, but I did phone to see if I could get it for free, but no go, I guess you have to have more than just the family pack to get it and the manager I spoke to would not budge. Anyway as a warning to others after speaking to a friend last night he warned me that as I had my original dish fitted ten years ago at that time they put it on my chimmney, which was before the health and safety police were involved they will not install install it if your dish is above the second story window, they need to send out a "specialist height team" ( a guy with a longer ladder I suppose) so I have now had to rebook it for Mon 3rd !!!!!!!, otherwise my wife would have waited in only for them to turn up and dissapear again!

I am currently in a 12 month contract expiring in April 2008. I called up today (thought that my contract ended in December for some reason), threatened to leave as I don't get time to watch much tv, and was offered (after a bit of haggling) the Sky plus box for £49 including installation. (On their website the existing customer "offer" is £149 plus £30 installation). I didn't call up their main number - I called 0808 1014438, cancellations, turnaround team. Been waiting a while for a good offer for existing customers so snapped it up quickly.

:T Thanks op. Just called sky+ is being installed on sat........ FREE OF CHARGE. I did need to haggle as they wanted £49 for installation, i just told them i had no credit/debit account so i would definately have to cancel. Was put on hold for about 2 mins and then offered sky+ and broadband without the installation costs........:rotfl:

Yes, I meant to post about this. My sister went for the offer for £49 that was being promoted up in Cumbria a few weeks ago in one of the supermarkets in Workington. They arranged the day for Sky+ to be fitted but, as above, the dish was on the chimney stack so they had to get the heights team (who I believe were a independant contractor) to come and have a look and even they said it was too high. I think Sky then said the best they could offer was to install a new dish but they wanted to charge for it. So my sister got back on to Sky asking for a refund but rather than handing back the money they are in the process of sorting out an install for her. So if you have a dish in a high or difficult to access place you might save yourself some time by mentioning this when you are on the phone to Sky.

I also phoned and got Sky+ for £49 - coming round on Wed to install.

Does anybody know whether they put a socket on the wall (like NTL) or just trailing wire stright from the dish outside (as per my original Sky installation)? The reason I ask is that if they don't put a wall socket, I could go to B&Q and get a wall socket and ask the installer to set it up.

If you find this useful then “Thanks” always appreciated.
If you think others may benefit from this then please Bump the thread up.

Hole through the wall. No wall socket.
