My flight back from Malta has been cancelled but air malta operate same route would they transfer me onto that there not a partner airline or will I get on the next flight 2 days later which still has seats where visiting family so accommodation is not a problem for 2 extra days NOW this is an avios booking so not paid full fare0

British airways call centre is in meltdown can't call them keep getting cut off can't change your booking online until 24 hours before departure all website says is call them and you can't so quickly on to ryanair and booked with them one way and will get a refund from BA0

Not my experience. It was very very straightforward to rebook our flights online. It must be overload since people have been checking their emails.
We must have just got lucky.0 -
i too have the email and can't rebook online as flying into one airport (fine) and returning from another (cancelled)
The phone isn't being answered and we leave the country Monday! which is worrying. Will cost us a fortune trying to get through whilst on holiday (and how much time to waste each day trying) and as we are on a ship part of the time, can't even call then as no signal.
All very annoying. if i cancel flight i get £300 back and a new one way flight from USA back here with 2 weeks notice is $3000 or so! each. so not an option i want to take if it can be rebooked0 -
Anyone know the law for this example....I fly out with BA on 4 Sep ie within 2 weeks of the announcement, but my return has been cancelled, of course this is beyond 2 weeks. Can BA simply abandon me and refund the return leg? There is an alternative flight with another airline at 3 x the price, I have booked it can I present the bill to BA?0

i think the options are get a refund and then you rebook yourself.
or let them rebook (with the worry on how long they will take to get round to do it and what route they may do/being stuck somewhere for a few days extra)0 -

They won’t simply abandon you. Look to see if options have been presented when you log in to MMB, or you will have to patiently wait to speak to them via their call centre. This will understandable be busy. If you want a refund then they will give it but they will likely offer you other flight options, perhaps a day before or day or two after the strike. Whilst waiting to speak to them why not look into what options are available so you can be specific when you do reach them.0 -

Seems strange that MMB is not giving alternatives for your return (cancelled) flight. Sounds like you unfortunately will have to persist on their call centre lines. I certainly would not cancel that inbound sector for the very reasons you mention with alternation one way fares being expensive. Once you reach BA I feel sure they will offer to rebook you on to an alternative but perhaps a day or two later.
It would be handy if posters included details of their routing otherwise only guesses and assumptions can be made. You do not mention where your cruise returns to and where your return flight is from, generally however if in the USA, BA will likely look at accommodating you on an American Airlines flight.0 -

The MMB says it won't let me switch online as its my journey has a land based sector. I'm flying into Vancouver and then back from Seattle. Looking at Ba.com there are plenty of return options one could book from seattle on those dates, not direct now but via Dallas or Chicago, any would work for us. Even flight back few days later is okay as no rush.
Will just fly anyway and assume I will be able to get through to BA at some stage next week (and set up some skype account credit so can call at cheaper rates)0
