British Airways **STRIKE DATES ANNOUNCED FOR SEPTEMBER 9th, 10th & 27th**

I have read the the pilots have been asked to use 4 star hotels on stopovers and not the 5 star that BA currently pay for. A captain on an A380 earns in excess of £150k a year and probably only does 8 flights a month, that is four trips there and back. Yes, they are highly qualified and trained, thank goodness for that, but this strike seems like greed to me and with absolutely no concern whatsoever for the family holidays that will be ruined by their choosing to strike.0

Can you post a link to the story you read please.
I suspect much is BA propaganda fed to the media. Always makes a good headline at this time of the year whilst we are in holiday season. Willy Walsh and Alex Cruz don’t give a fig about those ‘ruined’ holidays. They have complete distain for their staff and even their passengers. Cut backs and under investment on their watch. Anyone remember the IT failures and baggage issues? Boardroom bonuses has been their main and only focus in recent years.
Whilst perhaps a very few well paid Captains who still sit on the old legacy old WW fleet contracts, I expect many on much lower salaries. Many lower ranking First Officers paying off huge training debts.
As mentioned before I think there is much more to their grievances that the percentage of the salary increases now on the table.0 -

To the average (or below) earner it does seem like a lot of money but the issue is about sharing in the success of the company. I believe they're looking for a scheme so that when, as they have done, they contribute to the profits they get a proportionate share.
The boss of BA thinks the offer is fair but in 2017/18 I believe he got a 60% pay rise to take his salary to 4m. Possibly more since. So what's fair about that.
I'm not in a position to have my holiday cancelled so I suppose it's easier for me to be sympathetic but IMO the difference between this strike and others is that because pilots earn good money they can afford to take action whereas other workers are often forced to swallow their principles (however good and fair ) and go back to work because they couldn't pay the mortgage.0 -

It shouldn't do, though if BA is on strike that day, they will have to consider using partner airlines to provide the flights. If there a lot of people in a similar situation it does mean BA may think it cheaper to refund the Avios to us rather than refund £££ to other people affected.
We would also be happy with BA flying us a day or even 2 days earlier if it gets us to our destination.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. No, Iberia pilots will not be on strike.0 -
While no resolution has yet been reached, Balpa have said in a statement that both sides would resume talks today, Monday (5 August).
Balpa is yet to announce any strike dates and says it is “committed to finding a negotiated settlement” to the dispute.
The union would be required to give 14 days’ notice of any strike action. This pushes back the potential start of any strike action even further, with Tuesday 20th now being the earliest possible date. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0 -
This may sounds a daft question, but what is actually discussed at these meetings? I mean I get its contract talks, but this latest round of negotiations have been going on for 3 full days now after they lost in the Supreme Court. That seems a long time to sort stuff out, especially if BA aren't budging on their offer0

Apparently talks have broken down without a deal0

There is some good news for anyone concerned about disruption from the threatened British Airways pilot strike and the Heathrow Airport employees strike.
As we reported over the weekend, British Airways mysteriously found some extra money when BALPA terminated ACAS talks on Thursday and started to type out the letter to order strikes.
Following new talks at ACAS on Friday and Monday, BALPA wrote to members yesterday to say that:
BA have put forward their final position which will now be considered …. and detailed communications will follow after.
This means that there will be no strike action until at least early September, and possibly much later if a proposed deal is put out to ballot.......
