Seems like it will only be a matter of days after reading that email1

For those who haven’t seen it:
“We have zero confidence in Kwasi Kwarteng continuing to act as the Business Secretary in the UK, due to the lack of support towards energy suppliers and their customers. In recent news, Kwarteng has had meetings with Ofgem and with large energy suppliers - neglecting smaller suppliers, with customers totalling in the millions and thousands of staff members.
Kwarteng said that small firms would be allowed to go bankrupt, with their customers auctioned off to the company prepared to offer them the cheapest rate (source). We believe that he is unfit for his current role and further action is needed to ensure that the energy market has adequate support.
Due to current wholesale costs and the actions of Kwarteng, customers are most likely to see a big increase in the cost of powering their homes in the coming months. Ofgem made Kwarteng aware of the ongoing pressure to energy suppliers on 26th March 2020.”
it then gives a link to the petition they want us to sign1 -
Kwarteng seems quite determined to support consumers. It's the over-extended suppliers that he's going to hang out to dry. And as it's the suppliers who have got themselves into this position, I don't see the problem.“We have zero confidence in Kwasi Kwarteng continuing to act as the Business Secretary in the UK, due to the lack of support towards energy suppliers and their customers."N. If they spent less time on trust pilot trying to get genuine negative reports removed, lobbying petitions and spent the time sorting their business out. They may not have an issue. We moved into a property supplied by them and they have been appalling. Thankfully we managed to switch.2

I suspect there may be a thought that if some of the more troublesome small suppliers go out of business, this wouldn't altogether be a bad thing. A bit like the troublesome employee you're desperate to sack but know the difficulty of doing do - then suddenly they hand in their notice and the problem has magically gone away!0

I think many of the small suppliers may be peddling that petition. I've had from bother Green and PfP.

I've had this email too. I'm no supporter of the government, but it does seem to be an effort to shift blame away from suppliers.
Having said that, the government should review the energy market. It seems to easy to just setup a supplier, offer cheap energy to grow the customer base, take the profit and then walk away as the company folds.1 -
Only joined them a few months ago... not sure its worth trying to switch right now with exit fees and mostly just variable tariffs available. Guess I'll just need to take the pain of watching them go out of business and seeing where I end up under a SOLR. This is beginning to look like a very worrying winter ahead for so many reasons.1

Sky News are reporting that Green is in talks with insolvency advisers and is facing administration2

@mac.d totally agree. I was on verge of switching to EDF 3 weeks ago with a 3 year fix and no exit fees. Green offered to put me on a cheaper fixed tariff that they had recently stopped selling . I stayed as a result. Looks like that may have been a wrong move on my part. Hoping green don't go bust as I've had good service and prices from them. If they do then that 3 year fix is still available - but it's £350 a year dearer sadly0
