Shell purchased the company from first utility. I was with first utility just before the sale and had no problems until their prices became uncompetitive which led to me transferring to another supplier. Can't find a general thread on here about shell energy so will wait and see what they are like. In reality it all comes down to prices in future. Think I'll stay on the price capped tariff over winter and look around early next year before the price cap increases again as there are no decent fixes available at moment

For those wondering about unit prices with shell energy mse CEC quotes the figures below. These  rates are  virtually  identical to what my green variable would have gone up to on October 1st
  • Still getting emails from green telling me that shell are taking over my account so I must provide a meter reading - no, Neon reef took over on the 16/9, confirmed on the supply checker site.

Ignoring it for now, especially as I’m on my holidays, just ensuring I don’t get moved against my will
  • I've had nothing from Green or Shell so I suppose my switch to Sainsbury's has gone through, even though I have had heard nothing from Sainsbury's since I got an email from Sainsbury's saying they were taking on my supply from the 24th September.

I wonder how long it will take to get my credit back from Green or Shell?
  • Has anyone who left green before it went bust but is owed credit heard anything from shell?

Patience my friend. The SoLR will concentrate on the consumers that it has taken over. You will have to wait until the Receiver has calculated your Final Bill and passed this information on to the SoLR. I had to wait nearly 6 months to get my credit balance back from GBEnergy and I transferred away to a new supplier 2 weeks before it went bust.

It is also worth mentioning that Ofgem rules on Final Billing do not apply to failed suppliers, and also that The Energy Ombudsman will not be interested in dealing with any complaints.

it will be months not weeks before you will see even a hint of your refund - if you try to chase it now you will be wasting your time
