Clear a debt by April challenge

  • I'll sign up for this! The intention is to get rid of a Cahoot debt of £900 that appears to be lingering around. I could be really ambitious and add £800 of a Halifax credit card to that, but that's likely to either go to Court or the FOS (at my choosing) so will stick with the £900 Cahoot debt at the moment.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Did really well over christmas present wise and got some vouchers for new clothes. Hoping not to spend much this month, but have so far ordered 2 DVD's for hubby's 2008 xmas presents as they were cheap in the sales planning on buying one or two things per month for him. hoping to get some cheap cards adnd wrapping paper for next year sometime next week, but it shouldn't cost very much.
  • Just an update for you all.

Paid £170 of the target cc today which felt so good. Now I've got the hang of cash back sites - yes its taken me a while:rolleyes: - the extra should start rolling in from them. So far I've got £35 from GreasyPalm and £10 from Quidco just from using them properly for the last month. Both are car insurances are due in Jan so that should bring in some extra before the target date. Given the site of the target debt though I'll have to bring in some extra.

    I'm intending to:
    • Claim the extra 6 days I've worked at work as pay rather than time owing - I know that I end up paying tax etc but it will be so great to have the debt reduced.
    • Sell a load on stuff on ebay
    • Sell some stuff on Amazon market place - I've got stacks of books and CD which I imagine may go better on there than ebay
    • Sell some shares that I've had for a few years. Should make about £1200. To be honest I forgot that I had them and whilst its a nice investment again to get the debt cleared would be much more useful.
    • Use my OH's bonus when it comes through
    • Continue with mystery shopping which while not stacks of money is all helping
and keep in plugging away. Although like a lot of us I am fully motivated to get these debts cleared its nice to have a closer target than my DF date to aim for.

Good luck to us all and lets make 2008 at MSE DFW year!

Happy New Year to us all :T

Well I haven't really kicked into this challenge yet although I have paid a bit off my evil MBNA card.

Feel very motivated at the moment and I am doing everything I can to get some extra money in but January is going to be a very lean month until payday.

Hubby has had quite a bit of overtime so hopefully we will be able to pay a nice chunk off then.

  • Hello All! I'm going to join in this one I think! I usually lurk on the shopping threads - hence my need to clear some CC debt!!!

I plan to get rid of my Egg Card which currently stands at about £521. If I succeed before April I will start blasting my Barclaycard too!

  • I've not been doing very well with this chellenge, but I'm really trying!

Have just been on Quidco to do my daily chicks and they say they've paid £65 into my account, it will be very nice to see it clear. I also broke my card for the account I want to pay of the OD and close so I'm just not going to get another one
