Determed To Do It

  • Happy Monday guys! :j

I made another payment of £7.75 to DT1 this morning, so the balance on that is nearly under £100 remaining and will definitely be gone by next payday, giving me another £30 a month to allocate to the next debt going forwards. If I manage to invoice for as much work as I am hoping for this month, I should be able to clear two more debts when I get that money middle of next month, but I'm trying not to get ahead of myself :rotfl: positive thoughts and all that, though!

I should have quite a few NSD's this week now, as everything I kind of needed for the month has been purchased and all the foreseeable spends will just be groceries and petrol, all of which is budgeted for.

OH should hopefully be bringing some more boxes home tonight so that we can carry on packing, I'm determined to get it done as quickly as possible and just leave out the essentials :)

I would just like to skip to the end TBH and just be in the new house all unpacked and at home and comfy :rotfl:
  • Morning :j:j

That little dude is much perkier than I am this morning, feeling a bit run down and bunged up but work is fairly low-effort so would not be justified in staying home today.

Balanced my budget this morning, only one DD remaining from this bit of the budget which leaves a remainder of £18 - I have a few small spends I need for tomorrow, but still leaves enough to make an extra £10 over-payment to DT1, and going to chase the expenses from the other week as these are still not paid! it's only about £11 but it's money I want to overpay with!

I left my nice water bottle at second job at the weekend, old me would have gone and bought a second one for a fiver, new me has re-purposed one of my protein shakers to use to hold juice/water for the week until I get my other bottle back :A

I need to up my water intake anyway, the tablets are making me a bit dehydrated I think, but then I was never drinking enough fluids to start with so it's a kick up the bottom to do so!

I should hopefully get the money from the online work this weekend, most of it is now earmarked for moving costs - mail redirect, single bed for one of the kids, etc, but the good thing is I actually have the money to do that which wouldn't be the case if I wasn't doing the extra work, and I'd be in a panic right now! :D
  • Expenses finally paid, paid straight to DT1, sig updated :D
  • Happy hump day!

I am feeling very pleased with myself today, I have been looking at fitting a new stereo in my car since I bought it (old car had a bluetooth stereo, didn't think to salvage the stereo when I wrote it off) and have been putting it off as Halfords wanted between £160-£185 to fit one that I wanted, and I couldn't justify that.

However, I found a refurbed one (with warranty) and all the bits needed to fit it on eBay for the grand total of £74.99, which I have just finished fitting in my car! I do enjoy tinkering with things and seeing if I can do it cheaper than paying someone else to do it. Anyway, a saving of £85-£105! Because it was so much cheaper I've been able to justify treating myself to it from the money I'll get in a few days, as I will still have overpaid DT1 by quite a bit, and paid the money into my car pot for next year, AND paid for the small repair all without using any credit. Quite proud of that :D

I am going to bingo with my Nan tonight, but she has a free game voucher so will cost next to nothing, and any winnings will just be profit :D

    Hey hey :hello:

I do feel like I am talking to myself a lot on here, but posting keeps me accountable :rotfl:

I should receive the money for the online work tomorrow or Saturday, and out of that I have budgeted for:

    - the car stereo
    - a new bed frame for OH's little girl for when we move*
    - my half of our redirect service**
    - money to move over for my 2020 car insurance/etc pot
    - another overpayment to DT1***

    * forgot one of my relatives works in the store that this is shown online for. I wanted to pop down whilst my nan and I were having lunch today to check they normally have them in stock, she rang one of my cousins who I forgot works there. Not only did she say they get a lot of stock for them, but she will buy it on my behalf and use her staff discount. Saves £3/£4!

** I checked the price for this to know how much to set aside, spotted that it is around £33 for 3 months for one person, but you can add a second person (OH) onto the redirect for £8, so will be about £20 each. We absolutely would have just paid £33 each if I had not checked, so that saves some money

*** I will be clearing DT1 with this money. Then the little payments I am due before the end of the month will be just be paid back to myself, and only the surplus then has come from my online money. This then frees up the £30 DD that would normally go out for this debt to go straight to DT2! I could have done it when I have all the little bits of money come through bit by bit, but one of those is due right at the end of the month and I am wary of the chance that I pay it and the DD still comes out as they are so close together.

If all goes to plan, when I receive my money for my online work this month (so, in about a month) I should be well on track to be able to clear DT2, and DT3 :D this is as well as paying into the car pot, paying some money into an emergency fund, and paying some money into my HTB ISA. I don't know how long the online work is guaranteed for, so I am just doing as much as possible while it is there, to pay down the debts as quickly as possible in case it dries up or I stop being offered the work.

It will be great in a month's time if I have been able to clear 3 debts already. They are the smallest ones, but most of my debts have kind of the same DD amount each month, so I'm still managing to add a chunk onto a new debt's payment each time one is paid off. I am snowballing from smallest debt to largest, as I know it will give me more satisfaction to tick off some of the smaller debts more quickly :)
  • Good lord hell must have frozen over - I have at long last received my physio referral patient letter to book an appointment

Typically I can't phone after 4pm, so will phone first thing tomorrow morning :rotfl:
  • Sorry you feel like you are talking to yourself. I read along, but often don't feel like I have much to contribute.

If you can get 2 debts paid off in a couple of months, then snowball the money - that's going to have a massive impact on dt4 isn't it?

Keep going and I hope the move is smooth.
