Hey,
Hopefully you and OH can come to agreement which is best way forward, are you sure that you would get a poor rate on mortgage at this stage? I know some see renting as lost money but i always thought that as long as its somewhere decent whilst saving to get a home of your own is a decent idea. Unfortunately i haven't really been in position to have a choice between rent or buy, but up to recently i was never fussed about owning own house so never thought rent as lost money. We live in a nice house with good links and we pay a reasonable amount. Also if i had to buy theres the cost of making it your own home plus anything going wrong, its best if you can save 1st to account for that. I think he might just be looking at as saving more moneyDays to Orlando: 462- ☀️🎢0 -

Yeah, for now we would my credit file has lots of undesirables on there but the CCJ is the worst. When that is gone, everything else would have been gone by then, too. It's just always been the plan to rent for a few years to build up an equal deposit (which I also couldn't contribute if we bought) so that I was equally invested in the homewe could go cheaper but it would end up being a poky little house and his kids are only going to get older and want more space, so somewhere with lots of room I think is best. Also, if it's going to be home for a while it's better that it's nice as long as it's within budget I think
Yeah I'd never thought about it until I got into this relationship, really, and realised it would be on the cards. If I'd thought about it from a younger age I probably would have been more careful with money and savings but we live & learn0 -
I can 100% see why you would want to do it when you feel like you are in a better position finance wise and feel like you have contributed your fair share too. I have always enjoyed the renting and we have been lucky in that we have had some good places, this one is by far the best. Like you if I had thought of home owning early I would not have screwed up my credit file as much but if I can pay off stuff within 18 months in line with most of defaults coming off report I can think of it. I wouldn't want to go into own home and struggle.
Every day is a lessonif we didn't make mistake we would not be human. Plus you are working super hard to achieve your goals

Well, we are still on the house hunt!
The one yesterday was seemingly not worth it for the cost of the rent, however I have booked to view two before work on Saturday morning. Feeling the pressure a little as we have one month as of today to be out of our current house.
Trying to keep positive, the sun is shining and I am working my way through my bunch of online bits and pieces and will be meeting my Nan for lunch on my lunch break today, it's always nice to catch up with her in the week.
I've felt like I need a glass of wine or five this week :rotfl: but the leaflet for my meds says not to drink alcohol so I have just been going for little strolls in the evening instead to try and release the stress energy!
I have got a spending diary ready for next month and going forwards, to physically record all spends. Now that I will have the extra cash coming in, I don't want it to be squandered.0 -
Its a shame that the house hunt continues but you will find the one
.
Its good to have a thing you can do when you feel stress raising I love to go for a run when I feel stressed or a bit down, I like to just put earphones in and jog listening to a podcast or music and it deffo helps.
Like you I am getting prepared to do my first month of a proper spending diary....its scary!!! haDays to Orlando: 462- ☀️🎢0 -

That was my favourite stress release before! I am waiting on physio for an ongoing foot issue, once that is sorted running will be my stress release once again :rotfl:
It is a bit scary, I'll have evidence of where everything goes :rotfl:0 -
It's payday at last!
So far I have:
- Paid the two debt accounts that don't have a DD set up
- Purchased one of OH's gifts for our anniversary (and found a discount code)
- Paid OH my extra rent contribution
- Paid funds to the various pots
- Made the £50 overpayment to my first debt target!! (Another £30 will go to it on Monday with the DD set up on it)
The only other money I should be spending today is getting my hair cut. I am going to wait until I get the money for this month's extra work before paying into the car fund for next year just in case anything crops up before the middle of the month.
My car is also very happy that it has a full tank of petrol(although, when I fill up in the morning, I always seem to get stuck behind someone who is spending 10 minutes in the kiosk  )
I am waiting for some expenses to be paid back to me, which will go to the target debt 1, and have some more little payments coming in over the next week or two, which means that debt target one should be 50% paid within the next few weeks0 -
Wooo Happy Payday
Well done on the overpayment to your 1st target debt. Good find on the discount code...we all love a bargain.
Hope you have a fab weekendDays to Orlando: 462- ☀️🎢0 -
Well, that hot weekend drained me! I did find out that the air con in my 15 year old car works beautifully, though, so that was a positive!
Second job was good and fun as always, I did an extra 30 minutes as they were busy on Saturday which isn't a lot extra, but it all adds up!
No spends over the weekend which was good, I have a few items to pick up today and a dentist appointment tomorrow, but other than getting my hair cut at some point, it should be a low spend month! I even put £7 in my savings jar yesterday :A
This will also be the first month in ages where I won't have spent a penny on my CCs!
£30 DD has paid off more of debt target one, I just need to chase up the expenses from last week and then add that to the debt, too0 -
Hey,
Super impressed that with the hot weather this weekend you managed to stick to NSDs.. GO YOU!! haha the sun makes me wanna be out and spending ha, although I managed to restrict it this weekend.
Congratulations on getting to a stage where you have no spends on the CCs that is amazing.Days to Orlando: 462- ☀️🎢0
