  • You seem really 'in the zone' at the moment with everything you have going on at the moment. You're sounding so focused and in control, go you! :T

Not impressed you've now made me want a Chinese takeaway though (must resist must resist :rotfl: ) x

Why thank you, but it's literally only because if I don't power through and get a lot done now, I'll put it all off and then have a stress meltdown nearer the time :rotfl: at least if my energy fizzles out nearer the time, the bulk of it will be done :D

I can't wait to move house now, I was gutted when we found out we had to leave our current one, but now I can't wait!

Sorry for making you want a Chinese ;) I think it was our equivalent of an indoors date night - we were kid free and had the night to ourselves but absolutely no energy to do anything :rotfl:

I love how motivated you are to make sure most of the tough work is done before you eventually get bored of packing ha! Hopefully all goes smooth. A new home always feels like a bit of a fresh start so good to get clutter sorted before you move into the new place

I agree you sound like you are in the zone right now & kicking the debt where it belongs. Good luck with the house move

  • I made the mistake of sitting down :rotfl: and then procrastinated by phoning my brother then my dad to catch up, but now I have:

    - packed four more boxes including the kitchen bits we don't need before we move
    - packed nearly all of my clothes up, most of what is left out I will wear before we move
    - did the tiny bit of ironing we had to do
    - cooked dinner with enough for my lunch tomorrow
    - checked the oil on my car to see how it's getting on after the repair (seems fine)
    - drove to the garage on the corner to check my tyre pressures and found out it's no longer free - will need to drive down to the Sainsbury's near us from now on to avoid paying for air
    - sorted out the toiletries I have, the only bits left out in the bathroom are things I use daily, the rest is in a bag for life :rotfl:

On Thursday, I plan to tackle the chest of drawers beside my bed, it's mostly full of junk and makeup that I will never used but have kept because I haven't used it and it's basically brand new...

    Getting there slowly!
  • Happy hump day!

Gradually getting through the week, it does feel super slow though.

Just did a bit of maths for my budget sheet, once I have cleared DT2 and DT3 next month, and the usual debt repayments have gone out, I should be just over £4k with my debt total. Because it's just over, if I budget well and get lucky with any extra money coming in, I should be able to turn that 4 into a 3 before the end of next month. That will be the lowest my debt will have been in years and years! That's very exciting :j :j

Not much else to report at the moment, just trying to plod through my 10 hour work day (only 8.5 hours left to go)

I've updated my spreadsheet with all my debt totals now that the statements have been generated and interest added on, so nothing else will really change there until payday rolls around again. I'm looking forward to seeing two of them disappear in less than a month, though :D

If things continue as they are, I am well on track to be debt-free by Christmas, which is something I can't even fathom at the moment, but I've worked and reworked the numbers and if I can keep this up until the end of the year, I will:

    - be debt-free
    - have some money in my emergency fund
    - have some money into my HTB ISA
    - have about half the money saved for my car costs in May next year

Which means that, going into 2020, it will be all about saving money rather than paying debt! :o

Wow! Its amazing how much you have achieved in such a small amount of time, you should be so proud of the efforts. I so can not wait til I am in a position to pay a lot of my annual stuff in one go it will save me so much. Also can not wait until electric /gas debt is gone as this will reduce outgoing so much too.

I can not believe by xmas you will literally have hit your goal what an xmas gift that will be...please send me some of your will power and motivation :D

It would be an awesome Christmas gift! I've been dabbling with debt since I was 18 :rotfl:

*sends over some willpower and determination*
  • The working week for the full time job is almost over, thank god. Just today and tomorrow to get through and I can have a lie-in on Saturday and Sunday!

I am still on a mission to check my tyre pressures, I drove down to our local Sainsburys last night to find that their air & water machine was out of order  there is one on my way home, but it's normally busy because of the fact that it's free, but I will just have to suck it up! I'm in no hurry to get home tonight anyway, it's just me for most of the evenings for the rest of the week due to OH's shifts. Waiting for someone else to check their tyres isn't going to exactly make me late for anything at home.

I can't keep up with this weather - yesterday it was far too hot in my workplace (two of the walls are basically all glass, so where the sun is first thing in the morning makes it like a greenhouse) and made me exhausted, today so far it's a bit chilly, but the forecast suggests I'll probably be sitting in a greenhouse again by this afternoon.

Meeting my nan for lunch today, hoping to pop into Matalan as I have got my (online shopping) basket ready for next week but want to add in a laundry basket if it's big enough. The measurements are on the site but I don't want to decide whether or not we should have it, without seeing it first. Will end up putting the purchases on OH's credit card for one whole day as they don't do Saturday delivery with their next day delivery, so to have it ready for moving in we need it on the Friday, which is when I get paid. So, going on OH's card and then I'll make the payment as soon as I get paid on the Friday.

We're basically done with purchases for the new house now, I just need to swing by and pick up OH's daughter's bed frame whenever I can arrange to meet my family member who has offered their staff discount for me. I will probably try and do this on one of my lunch breaks next week. Hoping the box isn't too big as I don't want to drive my car over to the store, you need to pay in the nearest car park and it's only about a 5-10 minute walk so I'm hoping to be able to carry it back to work.

That's all to report really, by the end of the month I should have a few more small bits of money coming in that I can put towards DT2, but that won't be until right at the end of the month. I am expecting a very, very small cheque soon hopefully as they wrote to say it would be within the next month, that will go towards DT2 as well.
  • Well, thankfully the working week (for my full time job, anyway) is nearly over!

I finally got my tyres done - stopped at the Sainsbury's near me and managed to to my front ones (over inflated by the mechanic) before the machine just turned off and wouldn't do anything else, so I warily drove home as my front ones were now perfect but the back ones were well over-inflated. I accepted the fact that the best thing to do would be just to suck it up and pay to use the machine at the petrol station round the corner from us, but when I headed there later in the evening there was a huge queue!

I had to go back to the Sainsburys that had the first broken machine anyway, as I needed to pick up some birthday cards for OH's family, so swung in there just on the offchance and it was working - bonus :D that re-affirmed that everything happens for a reason, I saved myself the money from the expensive petrol station and managed to do it for free!

After that multi-day saga, I think I've decided that OH and I can chip together for a small one to use at home, that way we can just do it from the driveway whenever and not have to worry about machines working or costing money or queues!

I've opted to do the food shopping a day early, OH is away til late tonight for a family party miles away, we didn't get the invite far enough in advance for me to be able to sort out work so that I could go, so my night is going to be more packing! I have an amazing idea of what food we have in after going through the cupboards last night, so I will just head out tonight and do the food shopping so that I can just chill when I get in from work tomorrow. Literally just getting the bare minimum to feed us up until the move - no more frozen food as it won't get eaten in time, and I don't want to pack up any more sundries/tins than we already have :rotfl:

OH met me for lunch and we went to look at the bed I will be getting, I'll definitely need help carrying it, even though it is flatpack and cheap metal poles :rotfl: on the plus side, it's reduced at the moment too, so even cheaper :D

3 more days of full time work after today, then three whole days off (Thurs-Sat). I cannot wait. It will obviously busy getting stuff ready and cleaned and packed at home, but hopefully my body clock will let me have a lay-in at least once :D
