It is finally Friday!!
I had a very spendy day yesterday, but all things that I had money allocated for, such as our Christmas tree, the main presents for the kids, and the Christmas gifts I had already put into baskets ready to order. All but one purchase had some kind of benefit to using them.
- Wilko (tree and some christmas wrapping paper) - on Airtime rewards so will get some cashback via my phone bill for that/ 3 for 2 on gift wrap
- Matalan - had a 10% off voucher and free click and collect/ 3 for 2 on gift wrap & tags
- Sports direct - got a £5 voucher for choosing click and collect
- Argos - got most gifts on 2 for £15 and on Airtime Rewards
I think I mentioned also that OH's suit was cheaper online for the full suit than just the jacket and trousers in the shop, and that was on Airtime Rewards, too
I expect I've done my share of ordering Christmas presents for the kids, I cashed in the money from the pot to go towards them, but have probably spend £175 and I think he put maybe £20 in the pot, so expecting to either get some money back towards them, or for him to just get any other presents :rotfl:
I also bought my euros yesterday, so that's all sorted for holiday. All money left now is allocated for:
- the rest of the Christmas shopping budget
- a tiny food shop this weekend (we fly out on holiday on Sunday, we have the kids 2 nights and can feed them cheaply, and I am only home two nights, and OH is at work all nights other than when we have the kids) I will quite happily eat beans on toast to reduce the food bill :rotfl:
- any tiny amount of petrol I need to tide me over until we go away (may not be necessary)
- my share of a family meal tomorrow
Will be checking in online for our holiday tonight, I have literally just remembered that OH asked me to do it when I got home, but I pretty much went straight to bed as I had been to a friends for dinner and was knackered. Oh well :rotfl:0 -

On the home stretch to our holiday now!
My bank card for my donor current account (Nationwide, the only bank that will not allow me a "full" account, just a basic) so started the switch to get the £125 bonus. I will probably actually keep this open as an account that's used, I got to pick a free perk and opted for 12 months of a magazine I often read, and they pay interest on your balance, too.
Need to pop into the pharmacy today and check when my repeat prescription is due, as I don't have enough to last the whole time I am away on holiday, so will ask what they can do for me.
Three things I am grateful for this morning:
- Warm showers
- That I don't have to use public transport anymore
- Coffee!!
Got a small list of DIY beauty treatments to do in the lead up to holiday e.g. tint my eyebrows, put a toner on my hair, etc.
Ashamedly, I found out yesterday after my brothers were messing around with our scales when they visited, I have put back on nearly all of the stone I lost after our last holidayso, I will need to be more proactive about getting to the gym after holiday.
I have my "long" physio appointment tomorrow, so I'm really, really hoping it's productive....0 -
I love how coffee makes the list again :rotfl:
You must be counting down the days til the holiday. The gym thing resonates with me i have been meaning to go back and get fit again but something else always crops up. I am determined i will see a gym again, maybe because of all the focus you put on debt it means gym has taken a back seat.
Hope the physio goes as planned0 -

Haha, what can I say :rotfl:
Yes definitely counting the days. I think the gym thing may also be partially sulking about my foot, I'll just throw myself back into it when we come back from holiday
Thanks for the physio wishes - 5 hours and counting to the appointment lol0 -
Is it really only Tuesday....
Qmee is probably my new favourite thing, been able to cash out an average of £2 per day over the last few days, this is all being squirrelled into my new car fund a) because it's only small amounts and b) because I won't notice it going as it gets cashed straight from PayPal to the account where my pot is.
This means I should have a little stash already when I start seriously saving at the start of next year, fingers crossed.
Judging by other people's experiences, I should have the bank switch bonus paid in before I go on holiday, so that will get paid off of CC3 before I go away, hopefullythat will clear 25% of the current balance.
Not spending today, bank card is at home, lunch has been brought to work, and only leaving work for my physio appointment in around an hour. My click & collect Matalan order should be ready to pick up on my way home, which is a few gifts, unicorn Christmas wrapping paper, and some lovely Christmas smelling reed diffusers
I have the mountain of ironing to deal with tonight, couldn't be bothered with much last night and took myself to bed at around 8:30 and just watched some Walking Dead before it disappears from NOW TV.
I will need to put another £15 or so of petrol in my car probably tomorrow, this will tide me over until we get back from holiday.
Other than that, nothing really to spend money on, and will have around £100 left in the bank. This is only due to not having decided what gifts to get for some people/found the right gifts. Most people will be done this month, I just probably will get another few bits for OH with next month's wages as long as it doesn't get in the way of any debt-busting0
