  • Nice work on the 5k - I've got back to running recently and it really helps to clear the mind & gets easier all the time!

Also a fan of the online shopping - we are Tesco as they're the only ones who will deliver to us out in the sticks. I do find that I am more controlled with my spending online as well :)

I do miss running, it was my stress-buster! Hopefully not too much longer and I'll be back doing it regularly :)

Yeah, I just find myself losing any down time in the evening if I have to go after having worked in the day time, much easier this way lol :rotfl: I also then don't forget things off of my list!
  • DT4 & DT5 are GONE! Bye bye!! :hello:

We got paid a day early for the online work so, as it stands:

    Debts paid off: 5
Debt total: around £3.3k (lowest it has been in years!)
    EF total: £125
    HTB ISA: £130
Annual car costs for next year: £168 (around 25% of my estimated costs)

DT6 is on a payment plan that is due to finish on the first of October (with a lump payment at the end) which should be doable, I will just have to be frugal until I get the next month's payment for my online work this month. I'll look at my budget sheet for what comes out before that money comes in. Although, I may email and explain that I can do the regular payment on the 1st, and the final payment on the 14th. Might as well try!

DT7 is around another £300 ish quid, so my debt total should be around/under £2.5k this time next month! :T:T

Not going to be a NSD today after all as I need to buy lunch - my nan has moved lunch to tomorrow, instead. However, I will get the last of OH's birthday presents today whilst it is already a spendy day, and should be able to recoup the NSD tomorrow, instead ;)
  • Wow! Good bye DT4 & DT5, super awesome work, that figure is dropping down so quickly. I like how you are also saving as well as paying off the debts :D all the extra work you are putting in is deffo paying of.

Also like the idea of online shop, do you find it easier to control your spending this way? I always think of doing it online but then end up just going as our shops (mainly asda) are crap with the substitutes they are just random ones ha.

    Keep up the good work.

Well done on getting rid of another 2 debts - that's fab. I also use online shopping. I tend to overspend week 1 of the pay month and then get better as the month goes on

    Thank you both :D

It is easier to online shop, I tend to make a list and still forget things whilst I'm wandering round the shop, or get distracted by offers haha. I wouldn't do it if I didn't have discount at the moment as it does work out cheaper to buy most bits in Aldi, but for now it works and will give me some more chill time on a Saturday evening :)

Last day at work today of the full time job, sooo looking forward to my week off next week. My plans are:
    - to get my hair done by a hairdresser for the first time in ages (budgeted/saved for)
    - have a spa pedicure done with my nan as she goes on holiday soon
    - enjoy OH's birthday on Tuesday
    - go to Thorpe Park on Thursday (we had free tickets from the Sun)
    - hopefully get some use of my sun loungers :rotfl:

The balance has cleared on the CC I paid off yesterday, need to phone up and cancel that account as it has a small monthly fee regardless of the balance. I think things like these are called swallowing frogs or something, doing jobs you don't want to do lol, I also need to phone up my breakdown cover and cancel as it's now in with my bank. Did the same for my phone insurance the other day, and they tried to sell me loads of stuff whilst doing it. *sigh*

  • Not checked in for a few days - would you believe that during my time off I am busier than my working week?! :rotfl:

Monday - baked a chocolate fudge cake for OH's birthday (not baked in years), cleaned the house to have less to do in the week, took kids swimming (ended up buying goggles for me and one of them, spendy day indeed) and made cottage pie

Today - up at 4am () as OH and I both woke up really early. Woke the kids up at 6 to do presents for OH (he loved them, and was gobsmacked with the iPad), then I cooked a huge breakfast with all of the trimmings whilst he did the school run. We went and got some plants for the garden (after he "weeded" the garden and uprooted my chilli plant and threw it in the bin) so I spent the afternoon digging out the old, dry mud full of bricks and putting in new, nutrient-filled mud and putting in my new plants :) then we went out for dinner with the kids.

Chocolate fudge cake was a success! Soo yummy :rotfl: very pleased, I'm my own worst critic when it comes to cooking or baking, but it went down a treat.

Squeezing in a tiny bit of work now whilst the kids are getting dropped home. It's making me slightly anxious knowing how much I could be making if I was to sit and work all day, but I have plans most days so it's just something I have to accept :o I have my hair appointment tomorrow, I can't wait to have nice hair again!

On the countdown now until the next payday, but more in the sense of knowing where my budget will be once I see what my part time job pays, rather than praying for payday to roll around, which is nice.

Working on my to-do list for next year, now that I will be able to save for new experiences and make some memories - hot air balloon ride is at the top of the list! :D
  • Hi all :hello:

I've made the decision to quit the weekend job much earlier than planned - I almost had a mini meltdown last night at the fact that it was the end of my week off, and all I'd really done was catch up on housework and was going back to working every day again. OH said I should reclaim my time at the weekends, now that I've got the online work, which wasn't around when I took on the weekend job. This means I'll have the flexibility to work when I want to at the weekend, and be able to do it in my pyjamas! They only require one weeks' notice, so next Saturday will be my last shift. I feel a bit sad to be leaving, but mostly relieved about not working 7 days a week and being able to have some down-time.

Back to the full-time job on Monday, and back on the healthy eating and exercise train from tomorrow. 4 weeks to holiday from tomorrow!

As much as the hours have killed me this month, I should get a good pay packet from the weekend job on Friday, and might get one or two days holiday pay, too. We shall see!

For tonight, I'm logging a few hours of online work and enjoying a gin, whilst waiting for the food shopping to arrive.

I did try and plan to sit down and work out my life plan this week, but the week got away from me, so that will be an ongoing agenda.

Things I would like to work on are:
    - my self-confidence, always been an issue, always been something that holds me back
    - figure out a future career path (or at least some things I'd like to try)
    - work out a creative hobby I can pick up in my spare time to feel more productive

On the plus side, my hair turned out lovely from my hair appointment on Wednesday, so that's helped the self-confidence a tiny bit :o
  • Hey,

It may not possibly feel like it at the moment but leaving the weekend job is the right thing to do if it is impacting and not giving you enough free time to do other things in life. Whilst it has obviously helped with the debt payment, it is not worth affecting your long term health to shave off a few months debt payments, you are as important as paying off the debts :)

Self confidence is something i have struggled with for a while too it sucks doesn't it! You should take a lot from how you have handled your journey.

Ha good news on the hair front :rotfl::rotfl:

stay positive...has hard as that can be at times.
