Hope the sun hangs around long enough for the sun loungers to get some use haha.

It must be nice knowing that you can have hair done without needing to worry it is stretching the budget or something else missing out. You have certainly earned it :)

PS - Hope you enjoyed the ironing pile! I hate this task

I have to confess the ironing did not get done :rotfl: it was ridiculously hot in our house even in the evening :rotfl:

And, the sun loungers are still yet to arrive :rotfl: bank holiday gremlins!
Make the most of the sun while you have it.

    I tried :rotfl:
  • Another rambling pointless post until I can actually make some more payments :o

Payday from the weekend job tomorrow, and main payday on Friday. I have sat and worked out what can be sorted before the online wages come in, and what needs to wait until afterwards. Budget is looking very healthy as it stands.

On the 1st when some of my regular debt DD's go out, I will be under £4k debt-wise :D will be super happy when that milestone comes around, even more so when it's under £3.5k a few weeks later :j

Not planning on touching anything from my wages until I've got them all, other than fuel for my car, but that will come out of my fuel budget which should go a little further now that I can get access to cheaper fuel!

Having looked into my car's symptoms a little more over the last few days, I'm not so worried about a huge mechanic's bill tomorrow, though still expecting to have to dip into the EF and/or car 2020 fund. This, however, can be rebuilt and it will be good to do it without resorting to credit, which is the whole point of the EF!

Not much else to report at the moment, I am glad that my drive home tonight should be my last rattly journey in my car! :D

I am very much looking forward to my week off in a few weeks, counting the days already! :rotfl:
  • All sounding good, this new diary and way of thinking seems to be really working for you & you seem in a really good place at the moment :)

    Thank you :o

Car is going into the garage today, poised to use the funds necessary if required, hoping that when I drive it tomorrow it will sound all normal again :rotfl:

Payday from weekend job today, had to purchase a train ticket as I don't have my car to drive, but that's it.

Sun loungers have still not arrived, as I ordered them through the company I work for, someone at work is looking into why they just aren't getting delivered with zero communication. It's ridiculous, I've waited in two nights in a row now and not been able to do other stuff, and no text or call or anything from them with any updates. I will expect some kind of goodwill gesture from them.

Thinking more about long term goals at the moment, if the online work continues:

The first goal is obviously to pay off my debt, and save up for car insurance, MOT, etc for next year.

My next goal would probably be to try to save around £3k for a newer car than the one I have now, I would aim to be able to do this to time it so that I do it at insurance renewal, at which point I would have earned a year's NCD as well as been driving for 2 years.

Then, after that, it would just be to build up savings (HTB, EF, etc)

I think I'd be very proud if I could get myself my next car in cash, not really interested in touching finance any time soon for a car! It'd feel better knowing I owned it, and even better knowing no one had to help me to afford it :)

Hope the car repair is not too costly :) at least it isn't going to increase your debt level though so that is a positive.

With the way weather is going you might want to order your sun loungers a rain coat!! haha. It is pretty crappy though the lack of communication you have had regarding them

Like the long term goal settings its good to know where you want your future self to be

Fingers crossed your car bill is reasonable and your sun loungers arrive very soon, it's not great as you're working for them and this is going on :(
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Hope the car doesn't cost too much. Good luck with your savings goal for a car. When do you intend to start saving for that?

True about the rain coat too - it's not exactly been sunbathing weather since the day they were due to arrive :rotfl:

I should hear back from the complaints team today, the order got cancelled for no reason, so hoping for a discount as I know we give them when things go wrong, then I can go and pick some up with that & my staff discount and save some money :rotfl:

The car so far has actually cost me £0. He sorted the squeaky brakes for free under warranty as they were only put on new in June I think. Then he started to investigate what he thought might be causing the noise, and as he started decided if it was the cause, then it would end up being hundreds as he wasn't sure it would be worth it on a £600 car, but he thinks it is perfectly safe. After speaking to him last night and re-explaining the issue, he did agree it may be the wheel balancing or tracking, he wasn't sure by my description yesterday so didn't want to do it if it wouldn't help.

Saying that, having driven it this morning it doesn't feel as bad as it did before, so the tinkering in general may have somehow sorted something. If not, I'll try and pop it in somewhere on my week off to get the wheel balancing done, but that shouldn't be too expensive.

I am to have cleared my debt my Christmas, so by the new year I will be saving for a car and should have around £3k saved by the time renewal comes around (April/June) :) x
