The noise is back!
I'm taking it to a garage near work on my lunch break so they can see if the wheels need balancing which is one of the possible causes, we'll see how that goes. It's not something I expect to be massively costly, and it's quicker than waiting for my mechanic to be free again, pay for train fare, etc.
Payday from the main job today, and it appears I may have started paying into my pension again, although it still shows online that I'm not enrolled, but considering I get paid the same to the penny every month, it's the online reason I can think of to be paid £60 ish less.
I wasn't expecting to pay into it again until next month, but never mind the budget can easily be tweaked, and it's an extra month my pension is added to
Only one debt I pay manually which will bring the total debt so, so close to £4k, never mind it will drop under in a few days time lol.
Birthday cards for the month bought, ordering my brother's gift today and some of OH's, his main gift will wait until the online wages come in, if I get most stuff done today, then I can try and aim for more NSD's next month0 -
Wheels balanced for the princely sum of £27 :rotfl: he said that should sort it, if not it's something with the actual steering rack that my usual mechanic has already said is safe (if noisy) so I'll just leave it at that point if the wheel balancing hasn't worked/helped.
I just about stopped myself from saying "Is that it?" when he told me the cost :rotfl: considering they all needed doing, and having no idea of the cost, I was mentally bracing myself :rotfl:0 -
How is it September already?! Scary how time flies!
Some positives to start the week
- my debt is now under £4k! :j :j
- OH has booked us a holiday in October, it's on him as a thank you for working every day in order to pay off my debt and be able to contribute more to the household. Plus, he seems to keep getting money from companies that they owe him :rotfl:
So, not a bad start at all.
Don't really have a huge amount else to report at the moment. Planned spends for the rest of the month include:
- food (today - I woke up extremely late )
- OH's main birthday present (14th)
- OH's birthday meal (17th)
- My hair appointment (18th)
- Sending off my brothers card & present (hopefully tomorrow, bit iffy on whether the parcel will arrive today as expected)
Anything above that isn't really planned, and therefore won't necessarily be necessary (try saying that out loud :rotfl:)
First night of many this week I will be home alone for most of the evening, so plan to:
- Prep a few lunches for the week for myself
- Get the ironing done
- Clean the bathroom/toilets (need to buy supplies for this but it comes out of our set grocery budget)
- Soak my feet and make them pretty (I never seem to find the time for this, despite the fact that it can be done literally any time that I will be sat down for a period of time!)
Enough waffling for a Monday morning, methinks!0 -

Haha deffo tired, roll on Christmas when I can pack in the weekend job! I woke up this morning wondering why my alarm was set so early when it was the weekend, then worked out it was Tuesday :rotfl:savingholmes wrote: »Great news about the holiday and clearing debt plus some me-time. Definitely a good start to the week :j long may it continue lol x0 -
As above, I woke up thinking it was the weekend today, then came crashing back to reality :rotfl:
Remembered this morning I had £80 to snowball from old debt payments, so I have paid that off a credit card that will be cleared in a few months, just so it's down into the next £100 bracket, and should mean more actually comes off with the minimum payment!
I received confirmation this morning that I am back into the pension scheme, so that's good news. I also know what my wage will be minus the pension contribution going forwards, so can budget more clearly for the upcoming months.
10 days until my next chunk of money comes in, and I can wave goodbye to DT4 & 5.
I made a homemade curry last night, which wasn't too bad. I'll experiment more with the spices next time, though. Still, I had one portion and then put two portions in the freezer to use at a later date.
I got done everything I wanted to get done last night, the ironing, watered the grass, went for a walk, cleaned the bathroom and got a little bit of work done in the evening, too.
Tonight I will be having a quick hoover round, and then heading off to the gym - we do have a holiday next month after all0 -
Happy hump day!
I got a message in the group chat for my part time job this morning saying I'd been nominated for some kind of monthly award, will find out what that is at the weekend, but put a smile on my face
Miserable weather here today, although I must admit I am slightly grateful as it means that I won't have to water the garden this evening, so one less little job to worry about. Although, compounded with the fact that the traffic is back on the motorway now that school is back, it was a mildly depressing drive into work :rotfl:
9 days and counting until the next pay from the online work, and the next two debts get paid. I must sound very repetitive when it gets to this point in the month, but I'm just so eager for it to come around so I can pay stuff off lol. And increase my savings, of course0 -
Slowly crawling closer to the weekend...
Absolutely exhausted this week, I keep falling asleep once I wake up in the morning which is not something I usually do, and I've got two full days at my part time job at the weekend, as they're trying to replace someone who left. I don't mind doing it in the interim, but if they continue to give me long days afterwards I will have to speak to them about it. I applied for a 6 hour per week job, and this weekend I'll be doing 15/16 hours. Roll on the 5 days off week after next, and the week away in October! Ideally I'll stick it out until the new year, as I will be debt-free by then, and the discount will come in handy for Christmas.
Logging some solid hours with my online work this week, next month should be good for debt clearing and having a little spending money for holiday.
Today I need to:
- phone and cancel phone insurance (now in with bank account, which saves money overall)
- phone and cancel breakdown cover (see above)
- get an online food shop ready for the weekend (I refuse to head back out again after a long day at work and go food shopping, discount should balance out not going to Aldi, though)
Haven't been able to persuade myself to go the gym, either, yet. Felt quite poorly last night and the weather was awful. I will make an effort to go tomorrow, though0 -
Well done on the award, it is so nice sometimes to see the efforts you make recognised. Sorry to read u were feeling a bit under the weather its possible the work is just catching up on you so it will do you so good to get some relax time when you get a chance.
Are you thinking of dropping the weekend job once you feel comfortable with finances?0
