Will Brexit happen?

  • I don't really understand this claim. It was made very clear by Remain that leaving would be a fraught business.

    From the government's Remain leaflet:

Most leavers thought that was nothing more than project fear propaganda disgustingly paid for by the taxpayer and demonstrating the impartiality of the government at the time.

Leavers didn't believe a word of it. However as you ably demonstrate circumstances have changed and they now have new information which shows they were wrong to dismiss such warnings out of hand.

And now the working class are working their arris off to not afford homes. The standards have raised because we're 50 years on. I'm sure some would happily take freezing homes with no indoor plumbing in order to live somewhere, but they don't exist.

If I was 20 again, I would happily take a run down house that I owned over paying a private landlord any day.

Yes but it was also claimed by Leave that it wouldn't.

That was the start of project fear remember?

Who mentioned sunlit uplands, the easiest deal in human history, countries queueing up to make deals with us? That was all Leave.

And now you have voted for them? Where has the "Brexit Bonus" gone. No-one is even pretending that the act of leaving is a good idea. Only that it must happen to save democracy.

Just because lots of people vote for something, it doesn't automatically make it right.

So would many people, which creates demand.

    I'm not sure about this.
From my experience, young people today do not seem willing to make the sacrifices needed to buy and live in such houses.

Such houses aren't available in anything like the quantities they used to be anymore so you can hardly blame young people for not buying them.

When you were a lad the quality of the housing stock was much lower and it would've been easy to find houses without double glazing, central heating or indoor toilets. Things have thankfully moved on.

Such houses are still available. Many have been modernised since the 1960s, but now still need work as they have been neglected again. The issue now is location. A lot of these houses are in places like Burnley, Middlesborough etc. There are jobs in these areas, but not the 'glamorous' type jobs that many youngsters want today.

How many 18 year olds today are willing to sweep roads or empty bins all day, then go home to a mid terraced house in a poor area, that's in poor condition?
    I don't think many are.

But strangely,it seems some will still join the army - where you can end up in far, far worse conditions.

So you know what they all thought? That's clever, how are you doing that?

Still waiting for the 900,000 job loses. Today we have record numbers in employment and a record low unemployment level.

Meanwhile sit on the fence Corbyn continues to muddle along......

Cummings suggests to doorstepping journalists that they get out of London and stop listening to 'rich remainers'. Love the man. :)
