    Evening all :)
It is raining quite hard here, though I did manage to get a line full of washing almost dry earlier today :)
Spent this morning sorting out my sales unit, which was in a bit of a state as I haven't looked at it for a week. Lots sold - April was the first month I broke the 10 x sales value to rent barrier :)
Had dentist this afternoon, with a broken tooth :( Dentist did a repair which he hopes will last ok, if not it will need a crown which will be even more expensive  No NHS dentists here except for benefits claimants or children of private patients. But I do like and trust my dentist, so am happy to save in other areas.
    Other than that:
Small shop, should be ok till after the weekend now, unless bargains present themselves at the weekend markets!

Birthday presents bought for son in law and GD3, who is 9 today :)
Banks checked / spending diary updated
Stove alight now as it is cold and wet :(
Kettle on top for 'free' hot water though :)
    Dinner was from stores
    Still to do:
Put nearly dry washing on airer, as the residual heat from the stove will dry it overnight
Car in for MOT / service tomorrow, so another spendy day coming up :( Glad to see the back of this week, except for the fact that the plumber cancelled and is coming next week, so another bill coming up there :(
May go to DD1's and camp overnight tomorrow, but it depends on how long the garage have the car. OH doesn't want to risk elderly camper van in a huge traffic jam on the motorway due to Bank Holiday getaway stuff  We will see.

Managed an NSD day today, worked for agency £££, DS1 had a seizure so am feeling upset for him will make him a small parcel to send on Saturday - he forgot a few bits when he were home, am exhausted in the evenings as started running, am hoping it will pay off in the long run, had nice chats w DS2, am planning to get chrome for us for after exams but am currently enjoying living room w less TV.
Am spacing out laundry in order to dry inside this week(rein). Folded about 3 machines worth that were stuck on dining room table.
Did dishes and actually cleaned up tonight, will save time in the morning.
On Saturday I did a shop on Nectar points and had to be super carefull, si I made a shop order before i went and printed it out, that went really well, might try that again, except Aldi doesn't seem to have their everyday stuff prices online so it's a bit harder.
Think this will have to be a blueberry muffin kind of weekend,
Hope everybody has a good Friday and a smooth start to the weekend.

    Hello
Welcome to all returners and new folk - how lovely to see the thread so busy after a couple of days away. Hope everyone is feeling ok, and hugs to those that need them.
It's been a busy couple of days, which have had ups and downs...
    Frugal things:
    NSD yesterday and today
Did a bit of batch cooking after my meeting yesterday so I have plenty home made ready meals
    Heating well and truly off
Sorted through my wardrobe and shopped from home a la foxgloves for some lovely summer clothes
    Not-so-good things:
Ex husband still missing - police are looking but no joy so far
I am already skint and it is only the 2nd of the month
    Good things:
    Work is going ok
    Exam work has started
    Kids are coping fabulously

A day at home today, with some fairly big jobs to do.
It's time to renew the house insurance, and I've decided to cut out all the 'extras' (cover for frozen food, bikes, and such like). I've been on a well-known comparison site (looking forward to all those meals and movies...) and can get cover for about half what I'm currently spending, but need to read the small print before I commit. Sorted, saving about £200 a year!!
I've applied for a job that requires a video interview, so I've got to get myself prepped for that. Was chatting to my son last night, and pondering the fact that when I first started work we didn't even have emails, and now I'm being interviewed by a robot!! Haven't plucked up the courage to do this yet.
I need to take a close look at my business bank statements - they don't quite reconcile. It's not a lot, but it's bugging me so I need to go right back to the point where they were correct, and get it sorted. Done. I was tearing my hair out, then suddenly I found it. Yay!!

And speaking of bank statements, OH has finally got himself a separate bank account so I need to go through the statements from our joint personal account from the day he said he was leaving, and work out which bits of income and expenditure were his, and which were mine, and which continue to be joint. When I said I was going to do this he had the gall to tell me to do whatever I wanted, and that he wasn't that bothered about money - easy for him to say, earning what he earns. Of all the things that have been said since we decided to split up, this has annoyed me the most. Can't do this until the next statement comes out, but that's on 9th May so not long to wait. I've put it in my diary.

I also need to find someone to take a photo of me for another job that I've applied for - meant to get someone at work to do it yesterday, but forgot.
And finally I'm off to the gym tonight. I'm sure my membership should be up for renewal any day now (I remember I did my first trial session the day after my son's birthday last year, and then I think I did one more trial before actually joining), but I've had no correspondence and nothing's come out of the bank account. On the one hand, it's quite expensive, on the other hand it keeps me fit and it's sociable, and because I go every other day, the cost-per-session really isn't much at all. On balance, I think I'd like to continue as without it I'll not only lose fitness (and that's important to me) but also lose the social side as well - I think with living on my own it's vitally important to spend time with people, and young people at that!!
The weather doesn't look great, so a good day for staying in, drinking tea, and getting on with all of the above!! My Friday night treat is pizza and a glass of something alcoholic. I buy the pizza from Aldi (£1.69), cut it in half and eat half one week and freeze the other half. The alcohol is from stores (this week it will be a glass of red wine from a bottle that my brother-in-law brought round over Easter). Add in some side salad, and the whole meal only costs about £1.00 - but it still feels like a treat!! I've certainly drunk a lot of tea today!! Also been to Aldi (spent £11.29). My average spend on food per day (including alcohol, takeaways, meals out, coffees out etc) since 22nd Feb is £2.21, which isn't bad. It equates to just under £70 per month. When OH and I were together, and before Aldi opened in the town, I was spending £75 a week!!!! just in the supermarket, not counting takeaways etc or any top-up shops. Shocking.
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

Argh can't get the multiquote function working!

    Wanted to say:
ditty - it's so nice to come down to a clean kitchen isn't it? Sadly I am rubbish at it :rotfl:

CCL - glad work and kids are ok, hope you are ok on balance too xx

    Goals for the week:
    - 4 NSDs this week - 3/4 achieved, a direct debit and a small purchase yesterday denied me the NSD
    - Post every day on this thread - 5/7 achieved
    - Get something done about the recalcitrant car – more progress made…

    Tasks from yesterday:
    - bike to work - done
    - all meals and snacks from stores – done, meal none too successful but nevermind eh! :rotfl:
    - walk dog for free exercise – not done, he refused to go out in the rain (did someone say wimp?)
    - wash and dry down jacket – part done, washed and semi-dried

    Tasks for today:
    - bike to work - in progress
    - all meals and snacks from stores
    - walk dog
    - finish drying down jacket (takes forever, but worth it)
    - Gym am
    - Wash car (if not raining this evening)
    - Ring other garage about car admin issue
    - Order fancy non-mse dog food
    - Get dogsitter to tell me what foodstuffs to get for next week

...and a very full day of work! So I'd better get off here and get on with things!

    Morning all :)
Thinking of you CCL - hope you get positive news soon.
Ditty, hope your son is ok now.
Weather not looking great here, but I have put the washing machine on anyway - hope I don't regret it, as it is bedding and takes ages to dry on the airer!
    Other things:
Washed hair and left to dry naturally
    Brown banana for breakfast
    Watered seedlings in greenhouse
    Cleared up kitchen a bit
Need to take the car to the garage for its MOT and annual service shortly :(Done
Will make a banana cake to use up the rest of the brown bananas Done
Also made apple and raisin scones to use up a bendy apple. Froze half of these.
Will also make a spinach pie Done
Made a quiche as well, used up a tub of basics soft cheese that I bought for a recipe that I ended up not making. It was well in date, but the sort of thing that can lurk at the back of the fridge.... Added Romano peppers from the market, and chives from the garden :)
Cut some more salad leaves as they are going mad in the wet weather Done
Also picked some radishes for tonight's salad, and cut loads of rocket, and made lovely rocket pesto :)
Clean bathroom Still to do :o
Walk into town later to pick up a couple of things I forgot yesterday :(Not done, but need to go to the post office in the morning
Planted out some parsnip, beetroot and coriander seedlings that I grew in modules. Not sure how well they will do, experimenting really.
    Sowed more radish seed

    Back to update later :)

CCL really thinking of you, it must be a very difficult situation with missing husband, haven't followed your back story, but sounds like a bumpy ride.
Everybody else thanks again for thoughts in this lovely forum.
Dawn and Merida, thanks for thoughts.
My son is fine, but it's an ongoing worry, he has epilepsy with rare but very deep seizures, in the day and in his sleep. So it is really potluck if anything serious happens or not!
It's a quiet day with lovely students completing their artworks, want to tidy studio, but am thinking it might disrupt processes. Only 2 more weeks.

Will take a bit of time to start planning my shop on the way home. Am hoping my car can hava a rest again this weekend, once I get back from work.

    Happy Friday,
    Grete

    Morning all,
Busy morning so far. Woke at 4.30 a.m when a crow decided to sit on the guttering over our bedroom window & practise his cawing. Brilliant!
*Cleaned whole of downstairs using minimal products & washable cloths.
*Wrote grocery shopping list & put enough time into this to check stores properly, which was useful as mr f shopped last week, not me, & I found we'd got an unopened jar of mayo, bag of coffee & a few other things too, which normally would have gone on the list. Bookmarked the recipes we will be using over the coming week too.
*Started a list of things I can usefully do on our city centre trip tomorrow.
*Look out all potentially useful vouchers for this trip too.....helpfully, the postman just brought £5 voucher from our 'Just for points' credit card.
*Make packed lunch to take with us. It doesn't matter HOW good our intentions are, if we are driving out of the city centre around lunch time & stopping at the big supermarket on route home for our weekly shop, I WILL want to buy panini & some chips. Taking a packed lunch with us just knocks that little money-waster on the head before it starts. Happy to pay for a coffee, might even have a biscuit with it, but around £15 on a supermarket lunch is not going to happen.
*Filled up bird feeders with stuff we already have. They can all be on 'Use-it-up' over the coming week too.
*Did a Prolific survey - am building up my total as I want to put it towards a specific purchase.
*Continue sorting out my little office room - 'Foxgloves HQ'.
I think that will take most of the afternoon, as I have absolutely loads of shredding still to do from clearing my parents' house & I need to rationalise all my shelving in there so it works better for me. But when I've had enough of that, my time will be my own, as mr f likes to cook on Friday nights & I shall be sinking into a lovely hot bubble bath before cracking on with knitting this blimming sleeve.
Love to all, esp those having a tricky time.
