Today I am grateful for swimming with dd, for a good lunch, for a quiet day, for dh getting home earlier than expected, for 85% choc, for dd playing out, for realising now that I need to plan next week out in great detail, for a tv-free day.

This month has seen me lose focus on almost everything and drift from one Bank Holiday to another and beyond.

Whilst I've exceeded my NSD target my spending has been (way)over budget taking advantage of the various offers around and stocking up. This means June should be a low spending month:rotfl:

Grateful for line drying washing, well stocked freezer & cupboards, DS making tea - h/m pizza - yum.

    Good morning turtles!

It is the last day of the month and I wanted to say thank you to all of you for sharing the month with us. It will have had it's ups and downs - that is life. But we will all have learned things about ourselves and our habits, our money- and time-managing skills. No month is ever wasted!

Last day - make the most of it, as the weekend starts tomorrow! (as well as our ninja superpowers...)

I take advantage of offers and stock up on items I buy regularly but it never saves me money as another offer comes around and I stock up with something else and the cycle continues.

Up early this morning as we are walking up to Kinder Downfall today. Last summer when I went up it was dry. We are taking a packed lunch and a flask.

Went to Skipton yesterday and had lunch out so it was pretty spendy in that way.

Payday for me today, they don't put any details on the payslip so I need to check on Monday if it is correct.

It's May's Final Countdown (ba ba ba baaaaaah!)
Payday today, money is in the bank (bills go out tomorrow).
Got loads done yesterday, ending the month on around 16 NSDs by my count, which I am happy with considering it is half term, taking the kids out to the park on their bikes has radically dropped costs. Good deed of the day: gave too small bike with stabilisers away on local WasteN0t page to a family with young kids. Will be used and loved and they were really really happy with it. Pat on the head for me.
Stuck in the house today as having to pick up DS1 at 2, so cleaning and sorting stuff and making plans and plotting and scheming, are all on the cards for today.

Mr Hamster is looking doddery. He is 2 and a half.

Thank you for running May Apple, and keeping me on the straight and narrow. I cannot control many things at the moment, but this challenge has given me the illusion of control.

    See you in June !

  • Hello everyone,
Last day of the month today so time to see how I have got on! Thank you Apple for running May and June :D

Make a budget and stick to it Done my dad gives me a set amount each week. £30 over but considering how much I was going over before this is a vast improvement for me.

Enjoy the month Plan on doing this, spending as much time outdoors with DS as possible, spending time with friends and family but not spending money! Done! Spent loads of time in the garden with DS, spent time with friends and family

Read I need to find some time to do this, I don't read anywhere near as much as I used to. Need to find a good book to get engrossed in thinking of taking a trip to the library and having a mooch. Done this too, not 100% but more than usual I've been having a good read of my SW books and magazine been lovely in the garden with an ice cold drink.

Reduce, reduce and reduce some more This is something I am quite passionate about anyway. I want to see if there is anywhere locally I can give food waste (cuttings off food) as we don't have a food waste collection and since moving I don't have a compost bin or a need for compost. (No where to grow fruit and veg) I already use a bin for green waste but you can't put food in there for some strange reason!
Done this, checked my fridge every day for things going off and used them, and not taken any notice of best before dates! My eyes and nose are good enough!

Increase, increase and increase even more - Plan on spending more time outside with DS.
Did this, garden looks like and DS loves it.

Move it! Planning on going out for a walk with DS Tues, Thurs and one day of the weekend
    Not done this :(

Post 3 gratitudes every day May not have checked in everyday but have written 3 gratitudes for every day.
    30th May
    1. Spending time with DS and friend at park
    2. Having a laugh with online friends on game
    3. The sun
    31st May
    1. My mum feeling better today (she was under the weather the other day)
    2. Friend calling me this morning and having a nice chat.
    3. DS nursery for opening till 6.30 so I can get him after work!

No! Had 2 planned meals out and a couple of takeaways, but I have resisted a lot of takeaways which for me is really good

    Think of others -
Have done this too helping a friend move, helping a friend at hospital, trying more to get on with DS sons dad.

NSD: Totally lost count of these :o

    See you all in June!

    C xx

Well end of May! Thank you Apple for running thread. I've managed 11 NSD, did have a couple of take aways when I wasn't so well. Had a few nice evenings at the theatre with my group where tickets are only £5 or £10. Saves us loads of money and is always enjoyable.
This month I've been grateful for
    Lovely birdsongs in my garden
Flowers and shrubs coming through nicely
Going out on my dd2's birthday
my 95 yr old mum still enjoying life and going out and about all week, every week.
    bank holidays
Must strive harder to get rid of my debts. Some extras crept in the basket this month - a magazine and chocolate - so must stop this. Hardly anything wasted this month, a cucumber piece
and a lasagne portion and some grotty grapes. Still trying with less packaging
Will try for more exercise in June.

    Regards Dotty daisy
    NSD 1/3,
My mantra is After I ....I will. eg After I make my morning coffee, I will take my medication. Eventually this will become a habit,
  • Thank you for running May. Cannot believe it's over tbf. Come on June l'm ready for you lol.
    Count down to retirement 2023
