NSD No 7
Thanks, Apple. He's coming along. Sitting here contentedly reading his book. Over the last while he seems to be picking up lots of niggly little things. Nothing serious but it seems never ending. He had blood tests a few months ago and they showed that he has some vitamin deficiencies so that's probably what's causing it.
I'm not really doing very well with some of my goals this month so far. Hardly any walking and the diet could be better but I have been using up stores and since I haven't been out haven't spent much money.
Finished another book last night and started a new one. Downloaded some more and have identified some for the holiday.
I will have to go out tomorrow. We will need veg, etc for the weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
NSD today - 9/20.
Grateful for:
Sorted out day when new bed will be delivered and the old beds will be taken away.
PJ day.

Sorry for the mini-rant yesterday, think I've been biting my tongue for too long and it all spilled out. Got back from the funeral at about 3.30 pm, mostly things went smoothly, a few tears but lots of good memories.
Mum actually said I looked very nice ( admitted she's always criticising me) but I ended up with glitter on my face, hands and clothes from her nail polish. Settled mum in the front pew (side aisle end) and a series of regular churchgoers went to have a chat with her. Had spoken to those of 'our' relatives who were present on the way in, then went back outside to wait for the others.
Brought mum's cousins in and then introduced DS1 and his wife to other relatives and friends (and confirmed that most of them did not need seats in cars).
Twin grand-daughters had written a poem which one of them read, I did the gospel reading and the eldest grand-daughter did the eulogy. I knew mum had a seat in one of the family cars but one was also reserved for me which meant DS1, his wife and DS2 could all go on with the driver who had brought mum and I to church.
After the service I went round to the Hall of remembrance and a family grave to lay flowers. Was worried that everyone would be waiting for me but no-one had got into the cars when I got back.
It was good to spend time with two of my sons and good for mum too. Gave updates on the state of everyone's health (fair to middling overall), the buffet was ample (two thirds of my plate was salad) and then we went home (lots of hugs from everyone).
Spoken to DS3 and Beloved has been given a clean bill of health (she had an appointment at 10 am in Wigan so they left the house before 8 am). No idea why the 3 sets of alarming blood tests happened.
Have been lying on the bed doing some stretches to delay taking another lot of painkillers but no big plans for the rest of the day. I could curl up and go to sleep but will try to stay awake but have an early night.
Today I am grateful for the life of mum's partner of 20 years, for a happy huggy day and for lots of healthy food.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Shrewbie - well done on improving your Spanish. I hankered after reading Don Quijote, but had to settle for the kiddie cartoon version when I au paired. I did get onto Cien anos de soledad and all that later though. Hope you can think of a way to help the lady.
Toni'sfriend - you know these challenges have many facets and we don't excel at all of them every month. So pat yourself on the back for what you are achieving in May. And anyway, we're not even half way through it yet.
F0xh0les - any hidden treasures in the charity shops?
Mothernerd - glad the funeral went so well. And that you were allowed to eat!
Today I am grateful for smooth journeying, for walking loads, for being able to dry off after getting drenched, for mum having a contented day, for a wooden giraffe bringing much joy, for sorting out building society paperwork very easily in branch, for a well-equipped gym (complete with beefy blokes :rotfl:), for a lovely chat with dd, for a snug bed to settle down in.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Well as you mention it, yes, a few CDs for the car (nothing over 50p) a dress (£5) a pair of shoes (£2.99) three books and a few dvds the elder boys have not seen and were talking about last weekend. They have suddenly wanted film nights - so we have more Terminators, Bournes, Matrixes, etc which they seem to be enjoying, and there is a c/s that is currently doing 5 for £1 on dvds. They were chuntering away in the c/s next door about how their takings were down as the other shop was doing all clothes (spelled as cloths!:rotfl:)for £2 an item.
Apart from the odd pair of baseball boots, and the odd matching knickers and bra sets (on sale at 70% off) I have not bought clothes from a real shop in over a year now, in fact probably closer to 3 years, but then I don't have to worry about a work wardrobe as the kids don't care and I can drown the hamster out if he gets too lippy.:D. The c/s are absolutely heaving with good stuff at the minute, but I still have my sewing and mending to do, and very little motivation for it, so I potted up my cucumbers, tomatoes, and cucamelons this afternoon.
It was so warm I was considering putting on aforementioned dress, but decided against it, hopped in the car without my coat, and got to the school gates just in time to put my handbrake on and the heavens opened with the most amazing hail storm I have seen in a long time, and I sat there, at four minutes past three, and thought 'ha ha ha, I don't have to get out of the car on Friday' - the smalls have football practice, and the big ones come out and hop straight in the car. But I was very nice and kind and went and rescued princess DH after the exact same thing happened when picking up the younger two. Pulled up, put on handbrake, started across the playground. Hailstones. Roads flooding, rivers down the gutters, thunder, apocalypse, but it is lovely blue sky now at 7.30 when we don't need to go out anywhere. I am sure the weather knows my school run timetable (paranoid? methinks not!)4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

f0xh0les - the weather changes so often at 3pm here I'm convinced it's a plot against everyone doing a school run!
Shrewbie - not sure how well you know your cleaning lady - maybe just ask her if you can help in any way? I appreciate that pride often gets in the way of people accepting help, but you never know...
Definitely not NSD yesterday - had haircut (£18 dry cut at cheapy local not poncey at all salon), eyebrows wax & tint (£14) (both not done since Jan, so not excessive in greater scheme of things), got my 'nice' Winter coat out of drycleaners (15.50 - not been cleaned in the 6(?) years I've had it) and small shop (8.70) at TEsc0.
Today OH is collecting DD from uni - she has finished! (Which means a heap load of stuff coming back with her.....) and then this afternoon he and I are out for afternoon tea - got a voucher as one of my bday presents
Grateful for:
dry weather yesterday (lots of washing due to vomiting DS2 in the night) and looking like dry weather again today (still catching up)
DD enjoying her 3 years doing her degree
