I over paid £120 so far this month. Felt a bit flat earlier in the week so messed around with the calculator. My aim is to try and clear the mortgage by next summer using my savings to clear the last part. That would be 4.5 years early I the original 16 year term. Saving 4.5 years of just the mortgage payment will save me virtually the same amount as is currently outstanding approx £14,500. Saving the mortgage amount plus my monthly overpayment amount (I try to clear £600 total a month off the balance) over the next 4.5 years would mean saving approx £34,000. If I can stay on target then I can have my mortgage and credit card paid off by my 60th birthday and have my emergency savings back up to £1,000+. That will only leave a couple of thousand left on the car loan so once I clear that I should be able to easily save £800 a month. This all cheered me up and has given me the determination to do this, also the bank only own 5% of my home 🏡

over paid £34 so my balance is £14,120. Very expensive month but I should be able to manage. My son was 13 last Tuesday, I had a hygienist appointment on Friday, eye test tomorrow and car service on Tuesday! I’m no holiday Monday and Tuesday but think I’ll spend most of it rushing around. Wish the rain would stop, I’ve wet bedding to get dry ☹️
