Ah, the peace and quiet! I slept in until 8:10, absolutely unheard of in this house. Did shopping straight from work last night had pizza and wine, dozed off during Gardeners World (as predicted) and was woken up by the phone ringing about 9pm. It was my son who want to say goodnight to me :). About to tackle his bedroom before I go for him, could be a long job and I’ve only got about an hour....

Just made an OP on the mortgage of £200 so that has taken me below £62K and when the DD goes out on the 10th I should go below £61,500. I was interested to see some people work out how much interest they are paying each day so I worked mine out too; £4.63 a day! It’s quite scarey when you see it like that, a figure to work on reducing. Hoping for another OP or two as the month progresses but that’s my big one out of the way. Saving account won’t see much action this month due to the garage bill but the credit card will be clear again so that’s more important. Need to get some change into my sealed pot otherwise Christmas may be a poor do as that’s towards Christmas presents, I’m afraid it’s been neglected this last month as all my change was spent on bus fares. Well can’t put off this bedroom any longer!

Mixed day, did some spending but gain some freebies too. Collected my boy who had slept until 7:50am, why oh why can’t he do that at home! After I collected him we went down the cemetery to tidy up and put on fresh flowers and when we were leaving I found 5p roadkill, was it a sign from mum and dad that money won’t be an issue? Took my son to a garden centre for a drink and biscuit and ended up buying a new bird feeder and bird seed at a total of £9.32. However a result of visiting my friend and a chat I’ve ended up being gifted a bike! She does quite a lot of cycling and her and her husband have about 5 bikes between them. It’s a Dawes bike that she hasn’t ridden for about 3 years. Her husband is going to replace a cable and then it’s mine! I will need to get a helmet and bike lock but it means we can go and do some cycling together.

We also had a chat about selling stuff on Gumtree. I’ve never sold my stuff before and I’ve got quite a bit I could sell on. She recommended Gumtree as it’s free to sell. I’ve got a few kids bits I’ll probably start off with for a few pounds and I’ve got a beautiful black beaded Coast dress I’ve worn once that might go for the “prom” season. Bit apprehensive about it as I’ve not done this before but the washer is on with kids bit in and I’m on holiday on Tuesday so I’ll see if I can get something posted, wish me luck! :D

Good luck with Gumtreeing! I've sold quite a bit through it in the past, especially stuff that is too big to post on eBuy. The best bit is that all the money goes to you and not some 'middleman'. Have you tried free cycle or freegling for a bike helmet or lock? Know that with a helmet you might want to get a new one to avoid it already having been damaged in an accident but it's a great way to pick up stuff that other people don't want that you need. The cycling will have loads of benefits: you'll get fitter, it will wear your son out so he's desperate to go to bed (fingers crossed!) and being out in the fresh air is a real tonic for the soul. Enjoy! :)

Still full of cold, it’s just not shifting at all. Got a days holiday tomorrow and Wednesday is laughingly called my none working day when I actually do far more than sitting at a desk. Boy wouldn’t go to bed again. He finally went at 9:30 only because I’ve come to sit on my bed. I did some ironing while he sat on the kitchen floor watching. I tell you given the choice I’d rather be asleep than watching someone iron! Got the gumtree stuff ironed, just have to stitch a button back on a pair of shorts so I’ll take some photos tomorrow. Going to start with the school shorts and jeans as a tester and there are some crocs I was given for him which I’ll put up too. He’s clumsy enough without having a substantial and fixed in place shoe on!

Waiting for some TC amounts to become payable and then I’ll cash out as I’ll have £12.50. Got nearly £13 in Prolific so not much further to go for a payout. I want to get some summer bedding and tidy the front garden while I’m off so that will be money out instead of in sadly. I’ve got some zinnia seeds I can pop straight in and some larkspur too but I’m not sure it will be sunny enough round the front, still that will cost me nothing to try.

Cup of tea is calling my name as is my bed :p

Unfortunately the cold is now well and truly lodged in my sinuses so yesterday I was forced to go and buy the expensive branded pills for that. Taken half the packet and feel no different so just hoping it doesn’t come to an even more expensive prescription charge

Had two days off and did nothing I wanted to and today I’ve come home to work from home this afternoon but really don’t feel up to it. If I log on and clear some emails at least I can have Prolific open at the same time. Had a bit of a spendy time as the boy needed some new bits that couldn’t be obtained from the charity shops; I draw the line at small boys underpants  so this morning he had a melt down about new pants as they are looser than the old ones which he was complaining were too tight (they were 4/5 and he is 6 so fair point). I can’t do anything right at the moment and the combination of my cold and his refusal to go to bed is not making for a happy household.......

I have however followed Frugal Fairy’s tip about glass jars and marbles as a visual representation of mortgage overpayments. I have two jars, one with a handful of marbles and the other with loooooooooooads. I explained to my son what they were for, one marble for every £500 paid off the mortgage, and then explained he would be at secondary school before one was empty and the other full: Mummy what’s secondary school? :rotfl:

Well let’s hope his pants haven’t fallen down and that his shorts have kept them in place as I told him they would otherwise I really will be the worlds worst mum as I was this morning during “pantgate” :D
