Great news about the windows. I hope the health condition can be sorted x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Good to hear you have booked the retreat again for the spring, something to look forward to definitely. If you trust the window company I would go with it.
Sounds like the gym is a hit as well. Hope the new workspace keeps you creative. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Everything seems to be up in the air at the moment. Potential jobs to be done on the house. :eek:Finance  Health
To throw something else into the mix I applied for a job. I bored people in real life procrastinating about whether to apply. I don't want anything to interrupt my self employed work (not that I have gotten into a good routine yet. Although, with the new creative space to work in, I am in a much better position)
The job is only 6 hours a week. I can drive there (free carpark) or cycle in 20 minutes. I finish at 3pm as I can start early. I thought it would help structure the week, I could use the job as my holiday fund (It pays a few thousand a year) I can meet new people and keep my brain flexible. I made it clear at the interview that I would cover for others but if an opportunity arose that took me away I would hope others would reciprocate.
I got the job and could start in the New Year but I can't help feeling I've committed to a new job to escape the fear of my new venture and had I just stuck with it the fear would have gone anyway.
I haven't formally accepted yet. (References and checks need to be done.)

Go for the new job, as you say it finishes early.
You then have structure to your week, many of us need structure to start something else (if you know what I mean) sometimes plenty of time with no structure leaves us feeling we haven't achieved much.
You can then plan your creative work and once that takes off, you can if needed leave the job, you may only stay for 6 months or so but it would give extra funds for the house and holidays.
Historically you have always worked well with a plan, maybe this is the start of the daily plan you need.

I feel your pain with the situation you are in at the moment DIA
Life is a juggling act for you now , it's surprising you never relocated to Covent Garden . it will all work out for you in the end but messy situations like this are horrible and hopefully it won't be too long when you are finally settled .
Taking that job sounds like a good thing for your confidence . It also keeps your mind off of stuff and you get paid .
Sounds like you should go for it . Hope it all works out ..0 -
Go with the job.

Does it add or detract from the plan?
Will it fund food and allow you to stay away form the world of work for longer?
Will it facilitate or reduce the creative thing?
Impact on health?
Will you enjoy it?My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

You have got thisThe structure of going to a formal job once a week will help my week and the extra money will go straight to a holiday account so I will be going ahead. You are right. I do love a plan
.
Go with the job.
6 hours a week is good.It is only 6 hours and when I finish I still have time to do things.

Will you enjoy it?Good questions. Some of the answers I will know when I do it. But the important thing is it doesn't detract from the plan and in terms of wellbeing it may well add.

So I decided to take the job. The potential positives such as a holiday fund, a new environment, new people, new skills and a structure to my week suggest it will be a good idea. I think I might enjoy it and if I don't? I will stop. Various checks to be done but the ball is rolling. If I find it doesn't add to my life I will simply let it go. Simples.
I ate a FROG and called the window guy. He said he could come over in a few hours so I said yes. I am closer to doing the windows now. I've still not signed up. Waiting for the offer to improve a little bit more
Yesterday I met a friend. (The expensive to meet friend.) I like seeing her but after going out for brunch, seeing a film and having afternoon drinks she wanted to find somewhere to eat which would have involved wine no doubt. I used a voucher for the film but still spent but at least I was mindful. I said no to evening eats out and got away with a spend of under £40 including fares.
I'm looking forward to an unscheduled day. I'm making some healthy food and cleaning up too.
