My year of living dangerously

My work is moving to a new part of the country. So, I won’t have a job after August. What do I do?
The money situation could be better. There is only me but I am debt and mortgage free :j (Thanks to people on this forum)
FINANCIAL POSITION
A work payment (tiny! less than an average PP1 payout)
Savings from salary until August
A new (small again) saving pot I can access
The sensible thing to do is look for a new job and use the savings to bring the gap.
Instead I am going to pursue my creative work for a year. I will be working hard at it! For a year I will not have a paid income.
I want to move next year so I need to make my house presentable for sale. I need to use the money I have to live on, but I will also do three essential renovations/repairs:
Put in a new bathroom,
Plaster the kitchen
New fascias.
I will be working hard from now on to carve out a freelance lifestyle that I hope will become my new normal.
When the year is up I will potentially be broke with no source of income, but I will work hard to prevent that reality. A lovely relative died recently. It has reminded me to start living the life I want to now, so I am giving it my best shot. Wish me luck.

If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Hey DIA
Sorry to hear about your impending situation .
Thankfully you are debt and mortgage free . The world has changed a hell of a lot since 2007 ,and no matter what we try and do we get constantly screwed over . We are in similar positions ,so I understand fully about your approach to living your life in the best way you can.

Hi there DIA.
Just logged in to catch up on your posts and a lot has changed.
Glad the holiday went well.
So sorry to hear about the death of your relative and the funeral.
My goodness what a shock about the redundancy, but how positive and driven you are about the next steps in your life.
Have subscribed again and it's lovely to read about your adventures, some good and some not so good. You'll get there,I know you will.
Good Luck0 -
Many people who are made redundant see it as a purpose to change things and try something new. Maybe we all need a little push to pursue things.
My only point which may be negative, is just checking whether you will be able to move next year. If you don't need a mortgage as not getting a larger property and no mortgage now then that's fine, but if you do you may struggle without a couple of years accounts if you're self-employed. Perhaps ask the question on the mortgage board if it saves you doing the costs proposed this year.0 -
Found you and subscribed
