WOW, nice one :T . I love the way you not only found a great bargain but haggled them down still further. Good for you, I think that deserves the MSE medal this week!

Well done on the haggling :)
Good news on the CC using instead of a loan.
Well done on haggling for the bath DIA and for working out how to pay for the bathroom. Also well done for finding cheaper insurance, it's definitely a stressful process but very MSE :).
    Thanks everyone. :):)

The cc sounds like a good plan.

Great bargain on the bath :T

I woke feeling much calmer. I will be trialling just one coffee a day to see if that helps me remain that way ;)

I am WFH. My plan is to keep going with cleaning and tidying.

I need some protein but I will make today a NSD and make-do with what I have in the fridge.

I am speaking to the plumber today to clarify some aspects of the job.

I am hoping for a quietish, calmish, NSD. We shall see ;)

    Wishing you all good days.

So impressed with your bath haggling! I think i sometimes forget that you can haggle, and haggling isn't just reserved for market traders etc. Must remember this tip as we embark on our house renovations...

I'm with you on the insurance search - it's one of my pet hates! I do everything i can to avoid it and procrastinate until the last minute because it's so dull and time consuming. It definitely pays to just go for it and compare though, so well done on chomping down on that frog.

Hope you managed to have your calm day?

Thanks Homegrown0 :) I told people at work about my haggling but they looked at me like I was crazy so it's best if I keep such stories to here where people get it ;)

I did not have a calm day and now I'm feeling stressed and overwhelmed again. Hey ho...

I’ve hit a few barriers with my plans and I am beginning to feel stressed again. :(

Before the bathroom can begin electrics need to be moved: one wall light and shower plug to get rid of, a central light instated and a fan extractor fitted. I also need to remove all the bathroom tiles and get a plastering quote. Sigh. All this needs doing in the next 2.5 weeks to fit the plumber’s timescale. I feel stressed about this.

The constant rain is preventing the gardeners from coming and my garden looks like the Steptoe and Son garden. Depressing.:(

The floor sander is behind with his job so cannot start until the week after next now!

I gave a little money to a young family member and now I am not sure my finances are on target.

I seem to have spent a lot lately and that always makes me feel uncomfortable.

I haven’t done proper shopping so I have done ad hoc shops leading to poor eating and more expense, as I need oil and water for the car so I am worried about using it. I need to buy these things.

I have to wait in today for my sale clothes, so I will work on an action list. When the clothes come I will parcel what I don’t need and return to the PO. I will also buy my car tax.

    And breathe.

Wishing you all a good day.

INOD that's a great idea, something I might take on board myself in times of stress.

I know you can overcome these problems/ challenges DIA. you're doing the right thing - sit down with a pen and paper (and maybe some music and essential oils) then write down all your challenges and things that are stressing you. Then just do what you used to do - scribble our some solutions or some ways to take a step forward with them.

An electrician should be able to do all of those jobs easily within 1 day so the challenge will be identifying and scheduling said electrician. It should definitely be achievable within 2.5 weeks depending on the electrician's diary.

Hopefully with a plan or at least some initial actions in place, you'll feel a bit more calm.

  • Sorry to hear you're a bit down today DIA:(
Great suggestions by homegrown and in need of direction tho .
It is very easy to feel peed off , when things seem to be going wrong in sixes and sevens . However , if you take advice above and stand back , you will see that it's all part of your testing time / conditions that you are going through at the moment .
The garden will look fantastic in a matter of weeks . Same with bathroom . You may not be able to pay everything straight away as planned , but you won't be too far behind imho as you are focused and determined . We've all been in this situation and you'll come through fine . It may seem like it's a bit much at the moment , but try not to overdo the worrying . You'll get there . Hope the day goes better..
