  • Sorry you have rain today DIA. It's always annoying when your plans are delayed.

De-cluttering indoors will be very useful though. I know it takes a lot of time, but having a clean, tidy, de-cluttered house is good for self-esteem and it reduces stress which frees up your mind for creative work. I actually enjoy de-cluttering because I get an immediate improvement and that feels very rewarding. So many things we do don't have immediate results.

HANGING ON TO A BAD BUY WILL NOT REDEEM A PURCHASE

This is a Terence Conran quote that I love because it is so true. I bought some walking boots that hurt my feet. I keep trying them on walks. They keep hurting my feet. It isn’t a ‘breaking in’ issue they are simply wrong for my feet. I have a pair of trainers that are too small. Both are going. An expensive lesson to slow down on my purchases. :o

The Salvation Army shop has a box just for street homelesss and not for sale. I’ll put the boots in there. It will make me feel less guilty about wasting so much money.;)

The outcome is I need to buy ‘comfortable’ walking boots all over again and they are expensive. Best to start searching as I am using the excuse/reason of no suitable footwear to avoid long walks when today would be a perfect day for a long walk. :(

I seem to be waking up with a headache and nausea as if I am hungover despite not drinking.

I usually have two eggs for breakfast either scrambled or fried. I had a little lightbulb moment that I shouldn’t be having fried food daily, so boiled eggs for me today

Have a good day everyone :)

  • I love that quotation. I had never heard it before. I will however use it.

I recently gave a pair of “good” trainers to my sister. I had tried them intermittently but they weren’t supportive enough for me and never would have been. That said, I held onto them for longer than I should have. It’s not like they were magically going to change. They are gone leaving a space for other footwear!

Re how you’re feeling, did you drink enough yesterday?

I like boiled eggs. I do prefer coddled or poached. When DS2 was cheffing he learned to do coddled eggs that were quite compact with runny yolks and no sloppy white. They were lovely on thick toasted granary type bread

I agree hydration is important. But it might just be coming down with something or a reaction to the brighter days we are having. Anyway hope it clears up soon

You are right about water. This has been going on a few days now and whatever is wrong I need to drink more...

I think I probably have something amiss but I don't drink enough either. I drank more today. ;)
I love poached eggs and always order them in hotels but mine are watery no matter how I try. I tried to get some stainless steel poachers but they are all silicone and I don't fancy using them :(

I have scrambled eggs most days but use a small pan and only need one tablespoon of oil. I was wondering if you were dehydated, or whether your bedroom is too hot?

I like that clutter quote too :). It's definitely not worth keeping shoes that are uncomfortable and it's a nice idea to give the boots to the homeless.

hi DIA - DS2 puts a little bit of vinegar in the water and gently keeps the spread of the white under control with a spoon, it firms them up but does not affect the taste.

Thanks Marks88, but I do the vinegar. Trying one again this morning. Swirling the water as it goes in. I know in theory just never satisfied in practice :o

But it's fine. I appreciate its a first world problem and all that ;)

  • A former colleague has advised putting the egg into boiling water for 30 seconds before cracking it open. I’ve never tried it though. For me a poached egg is part of the treat of going out for breakfast
