So why choose Egypt over any resort anywhere?
Pluses- wonderful dry heat & the Red Sea is lovely. It’s warm & fantastic for swimming.
Minuses - two trips and a dodgy tummy far worse than anything I’ve had anywhere else.
If I had any faith I’d find a hotel without food poisoning I’d go back, but I’m not.0 -
The New York times wrote about the best destinations to visit this 2019. I recommend you see this post.:money:0

I've not read all posts so may have been mentioned, but I think Tunisia is often overlooked - Tunis is great for a week or 2 (but not really any longer) and is only a 3 hour flight (from London). Day trips to carthage, sidi bou said etc. are possible. You can even spend a couple of days in the Sahari if that interests you. Or there are also Star Wars tours if that's your thing
The weather will not be beach weather, but should be in high teens/20 degrees ish
You could even do a week in Tunisia and then a week in Morocco?0 -
How about Myanmar? (Burma)
Not sure of your budget.
I've just come back after a 10 day trip (part of a RTW journey) and it was the best country on the trip.
Feb is a good time to go, not too hot.
Tourism is picking up so a good time to go before it gets too commercialised.
Prices are incredibly cheap, apart from the 50$ visa (IIRC)
Tourist circuit is easily done in 14 days
Yangon
Bagan
Mandalay
Inle lake
If you go, book a Balloon flight over Inle Lake or at least Bagan.

I was there on business, must be 15 years ago.
I thought the people were great and they invited us into their houses where they all had big photos of Aung San Suu Kyi hanging on their walls and they all worshiped her and asked that we spread the word of how difficult life was under the military regime.
Well times have changed and I do wonder if the people's view of
Aung San Suu Kyi has changed at all or maybe just the
Rohingya people think differently from the Burmese themselves.
Fifteen years ago I wouldn't have suggested a holiday in Myanmar to anyone and maybe now I also wouldn't but now for different reasons.
Horses for courses. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -

No it hasn't changed, but her popularity would decline if she bowed to pressure from those who happily submit to Islamic expansion in their own countries. The Burmese are wise enough to resist and limit the danger to their cultural identity, which they value very highly, and they should be respected for it. The people will confirm this when asked during a visit, but better not to go if you would judge critically their instincts to preserve their rich cultural heritage.
No-one is talking about Islamic expansion: the world community simply asks them to stop persecuting a minority community.0 -
So why choose Egypt over any resort anywhere?
I don’t - I’ve given up.
What I love is the beautiful warm salty buoyant sea & the bone dry heat.
The hassle I can live with if I’m spending most of my team in a large all inclusive.
It’s not like the Greek islands where you can get dressed up and wander the harbour or seafront to choose your restaurant for the evening.
The hotels are large and scattered & mostly with hardly anything around them.
What I can’t put up with are the awful tummy bugs.
So I’ll stick to the Caribbean for a warm pleasant sea - better hotels anyway.0 -
I don't know if this would interest OP or not, but we did Granada, Cordoba and Seville in early March a couple of years ago. Flew into Malaga and out of Seville.
Was brilliant, no tourist crowds, lots to see and just bring a rain jacket in case! Anyway I always feel I have so much more energy for walking and sightseeing when it is cooler weather.
Didn't bother with hiring a car either just took the bus from Malaga to Granada, then the train to Cordoba, and then Seville.
Will be going to walk the Caminito del Rey in October. Have a look, it is amazing!0 -
