Just less than a 2 hour flight from LGW to Ljubljana, and a 60 minute transfer.
KG is set in picture perfect scenery. A couple of dozen marked walking trails, clean mountain air, litter free, very little traffic, non of the wrong type of tourist, lovely hotels, friendly English speaking locals, and much more.....Perfect.
Bring a brolly though.:)
Would it be pleasant in February, though?0 -
I wish that were so, but I’ve lost faith in Egyptian hotel standards.
I’m almost tee total so it’s not booze, I’m very fair, so it’s not too much sun & I really like water, so I do drink plenty.
That old Chestnut about the money, ALL money in every country is handled by loads of dirty hands.
I fear it’s all excuses and they need to sort out their food handling hygiene. I think they have the worlds worst rep for tummy bugs - it’s virtually the norm to get a bad dose and if you’re unlucky a drip and medical intervention.
Surely the solution is not to eat in hotels, strictly patronise only places that serve locals and very obviously rely on repeat customers. That is what I do in India (which surely is even worse than Egypt), and I have only once had any problems.0 -
We did loads of sightseeing ... Had a driver who took us to various places. Although beach was good ..We only spent one-day on it.
Scenery and people fantastic.
We flew Emirates with a 2 hour stopover before transfer to air mauritius.
This was 10 years ago ...so maybe some changes to flights.
Someone else mentioned cyprus.
Loads to do there ..plenty nice walks ...0 -

The hassle in Egypt is so wearing that one wouldn’t want to have to run the gauntlet of hassle 3 times a day to eat!0 -
Depends on what you call terrible jet lag, with an 8 hour time difference our sleeping pattern is a bit iffy for a bit and it's harder now we are getting older but when we used to work we went long haul, came back on a Friday and went to work on Monday, felt a bit tired but worth it to go where ever we went.
Funny enough only notice it coming home where ever in the world we go.....
Never thought it not worth it for 2 weeks.0 -

Worth noting that jet lag is normally less of an issue if you're going from short winter days in the UK to long summer days elsewhere.0 -

Oh....I came in a bit late on this thread. Lol.
A liking for lots and lots of the white stuff would be preferable.0 -

I spose it's a combination of things really... the most dominant being that when we go longer distances we go for a minimum of three weeks so are used to that, I do also worry about Iet lag, when we went to Vegas it took me 5 days to feel normal, that's a lot of my holiday wasted just trying to acclimatise to the time zone, and it was the same coming back.
I also remember getting home after a flight from Lanzarote at 2.30am and had to get up for work at 5.30 am for a 12.5 hour shift on my feet wearing very heavy protective gear, i was done in, it took me a few days to recover from that as well, so if i have two weeks away that's what i would probably have to do as that's all i can get off, so adding jet lag into that would probably knock me silly.
a ten day break would be better, and when we did The Gambia 10 days was just nice and the jet lag not too bad, but to do The Gambia again I would have to drive a minimum of 5 hours to the nearest airport. Not that I plan on going back to The Gambia
I am also the type of person that wants to see so much, so the likelihood of me ever going back to the same place is small, so I want to do and see as much as I can, now I enjoy doing and seeing a lot of things, but I also like rest days, they are important so we don't burn out, meaning the likelyhood of us doing everything we want to is smaller.0
