What small DFW things will you do w/c 8th April?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning all!
Thanks for starting us off purps.
Dawn is dawning hazy but bright. The mists are burning off and the sun came up like a big red ball this morning. In short - it's far too nice to be stuck in work!
Not looking forward to today - can foresee work hell... still small things:
:heartpuls B/L/D from stores - done
:heartpuls Track food and actually stick to it - avoided cakey bits in work
:heartpuls Charge phone in work - done
:heartpuls Gym at lunchtime - I don't care what the boat is doing, I'm going - dammit. Won't be going
:heartpuls No alcohol - done
:heartpuls Crochet if time later. Might need to do overtime. - no time
:heartpuls Pack bag for going away tomorrow - done
:heartpuls Print journey out at work - done
Have a good one all

Morning frugal pals, another weekend has passed us by and back to it. Not quite as bad as normal as smalls are off school so routine less brutal in the mornings
I'm on my second coffee so all is well in the world :T it's interest paying day ta my bank some updated my spreadsheets with my numbers.
Other things:
Need to work out if it's better to move some money to an isa even though itll only be part of the year or not
Pick something from the meal plan that includes some veggies to use up before we go away
Try for a run
Triage fridge
Deal with a frog, which is to rectify a mistake on last weeks frog
Reconcile just for points credit card
DH to collect last of unit we didn't get on Saturday. If so, finish putting that together (and then fill it :rotfl:)
Have a good day everyone Purps.0 -

Morning all. Lovely, sunny and warm today. As it's over freezing (15 degrees already ) and not raining for once, i expect every one will have the BBQ's out later. There's a reason there are so many lakes in the lake district
A bit hit and miss with posting here lately. Rest assured, the DFW stuff is happening. Been logging in my diary and forgetting to post here. Still reading all of your posts and picking up tips though. I
Today:
Take car for service - budgeted for, no CC this year
Take DC for McD - followed Martin's tips about surveys to get reduced meals and have a couple of free drinks from the monopoly game that I got given. Should be around £4 for the 3 of us not bad for a half term treat.
Take DS bike shopping - his (3rd hand one) fell to bits and he has saved his xmas and birthday cash, so again, no need for credit OR for mam and dad to pay. Good work son! So proud, but also slightly worrying that he's growing up too fast and can already pay for his own stuff (doing better at budgeting at 9 than his ol' fella did at 29)
Round of golf later - discounted as it's a late tee time (50% off). Not strictly DFW, although it's out of the fun budget and it's 50% reduced. £15 for 4 hours of entertainment in stunning scenery, with the sea on one side and the fells on the other. I think I can stretch to that
All in all, should cost around £19 of my fun budget today. Everything else already has the cash set aside.
Have a great day allDebts 14/6/2019 (LBM 5/3/2019)

Drum roll please… I have finally dealt with the clean laundry mountain!!!
We had a fab weekend, fun with friends on Saturday – a little bit spendy but so nice. Quiet day yesterday – lots of laundry on the line (OK, had to finish a few things off in the dryer ready for this morning but far less than if I’d not put it out), took the dog for a big walk, watched a couple of films we already own, all very pleasant indeed. Made a big decision re house buying, we’re a while off being ready BUT now have a plan to aim for, which is great.
Today’s list:
- Gym AM
- Bike to work AM
- Ring dentist
- Ring garage, car still a bit off
- Meals and snacks from stores
- Top up shop for this week, write and stick to list
Have a good day all!0 -
Morning guys
Thanks for starting the thread purps. Lovely to hear you sounding all bouncy on a Monday morning
merida88 way to go on the washing battle line!
Last week I spent some time sorting out all my clothes and put together a capsule wardrobe. I spent yesterday refashioning a skirt I've had for ages that wasn't quite right. It is/was a navy A-line skirt from Fat Face that was too big and sat too low.I never wear it, or when I do don't feel right in it, but I've hung on to it forever as there is something I like about it. It is now a high waisted fitted skirt that I LOVEgreat addition to wardrobe. And am loving having so little clothes. Everyday is really easy to work out what to wear, not having to battle through loads of things not used clogging up drawers and wardrobe - really recommend!
Not feeling very motivated today but hope to:
* do some sewing
* oil desk upstairs (last coat) and shelves in lounge (3rd of 4 coats)
* chicken out of freezer for tea - hope it defrosts!
* checked banking. Still haven't received joining reward
* ordered a couple of slime making kits for madam to do over hols - current obsession!
* make loaf of bread
* clean bathroom
* pick up pup and take him for a walk when madam/oh are home
* make meal plan/shopping list
* listen to pop casts while doing jobs
* I'd like to go to the allotment and also to a free swimming/sauna session. Will see how I fair...
Ok hope you all have a good dayDF as at 30/12/16

Dawn, sorry to hear that you need an operation.

Todays list
* 2 frogs dealt with, a call with the school and car booked into the garage I've been putting them off for ages when in reality they weren't bad** done**
* check banking/ move money around & update spreadsheet ** done**
* write a cheque for the school (the only place I write cheques for anymore!)** two chqs later as I made that many mistakes!**
* wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash **done** and try and get it dried on the line, the weathers very changeable here today **all dried!**
* make families lunches for tomorrow
* triage fridge, make sure nothing is going to waste
* iron dh's work shirts that I washed/dried yesterday (all other washing just gets hung straight away)** done**
* listen to the next thing on my mindfulness app for anxiety **done**
* read some more of my book from stash (trying to spend less time on tech)
* start a list for items to pack for our Easter break
* text friend to see if we can meet up, I want her advice about the school thing
* if ds has after school club then I'll pop to the library to see if they've anything that takes my fancy as its on the way to the school ** club cancelled so saving fuel too instead**
** ordered a first sim card for ds2 - my baby growing too quick! Went through cashback site and both kids know that if they go over on minutes/data etc then they pay the extra - I recommend IDmobile - 1gb data, 500 minutes and unlimited texts for £5 on a 30 day contract.
Thats my starter, take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hello
Thanks for the starter this week PF.
I'm on hols already this week, and not a moment too soon for me. I was/am absolutely shattered. However, I have been busy today - trailing round the shops with dd and bestie. It wasn't a nsd but we had lunch on Meerkat vouchers and I bought myself a new dress in the sale (which is what I wanted to buy).
Then back to visit my sister and catch up over coffee. I've only been home about an hour and I feel pretty tired. The washing machine is going, the cats are fed and the litter trays are clean but I think that will be it for tonight.
I have cashed out on tcb to a prepaid mastercard and got a 6% bonus - put it straight towards the holiday. I'm also taking my 'spare change' pot to the bank tomorrow. I'm going to an appointment with my sister and they have one of those machines there that you can put your spare change into, without being charged for it. Whatever is in there will also go towards the holiday.
Other than that, same old stuff. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Evening all
Tired.com today after yesterday's marathon babysitting session
The usual things:
Work /biz stuff this morning
Checked banks and updated spending diary /spreadsheet
Small shop, plus both vehicles filled up with fuel
Little bit of gardening, planted out some small plants I bought yesterday in front garden pots
Little bit of housework / tidying, started to sort out small conservatory which becomes a dumping ground all too easily, especially during the winter
Load of washing mostly dried on the line, now finishing off on airer
Dealt with some paperwork
Chopped up and froze some parsnips that were lurking in the fridge
Made frittata for dinner as I was bereft of other ideas, plus various veg could be incorporated into it. There will be enough for another meal for me as well (OH is away for a few days from tomorrow, so only me to feed, plus the dog of course)0
