I've got the opposite at the moment. My current stock is around the 1300 mark and for the past few months I have been struggling to sell the 30 I need to cover my pro membership. However in the past 7 days I have already sold 22 books, which is a record for me.
I do envy you your level of sales though, they are figures I can only dream of.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This was my first month where my early month sale didn't cover my pro seller subscribtion and I actually have to pay Amazon  Some serious work ahead of me to turn this around - somehow."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

ginga I am still buying my jiffy bags from the 99p shop, 10 for 99p seems to be about the best I can get..
As for 1p books I tend not to bother with them unless they are very high in the rankings and likely to sell quite quickly, I certainly wouldn't bother storing them if they were unlikely to sell in a month at the most.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Out of interest, what proportion of your 1,300 books is renewed on a monthly basis? What I'm really asking is how many of those books also didn't sell last month?
I find that if I have 100 books that are listed at the same time, I might sell 10 of them in the first week, but then 10 over the next two weeks, and then the next 10 will take 4 weeks, and then 8 weeks and so on. This makes sense to me because the books that are popular or disarable will sell first and the remainder will be less disirable...
I'm a grad student in Computer Science and I'm currently playing with some programs to see if I can model the likely turnover over from any given set of books. Will let you know if I manage to finnish anything.
Thanks
Joe
PS got to go so not time to spell check, sorry.0 -
Good afternoon Amazon'ers!!
I've decided to list some of my old books/cds on Amazon again. I did it for a bit last year but gave up. I hoping to make just a little pocket money with this and I'm not expecting much.
The reason I am posting now is that I have found a signed CD (this one) that I wish to sell and I don't have a clue what sort of price to put it for as I've never sold anything that is signed before? Is there a general guide anywhere or do I just make up a price?:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
Joe, I've read all the model's of sale on the seller boards and I don't seem to fit any of them frankly. I am more of a conspiracist believer myself in that I will sell loads in a few days then none for ages, without altering the stock basis at all. Fo rinstance last weekend I htink I sold 9 in total, mainly old stock listed between 2 years and one month previously, but I was not listing new stock. This weekend I have bene listing new stock constantly (I will start a new post in a mo) and hav enot had a single sale since Thursday...
I started as a pro seller aorund 2 years ago and still have stock listed from then that sells but I also delist stuff when it falls off the rnakings or hits 1p..and I list new stock each week. My stock stays fairly constant at around the 1200-1400 mark with stuff sleling, being removed and added to on an almost daily basis. I try to aim at 30 sales a month which I have hit every month in the past 2 years apart from on two occasions.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The good news is that the cheaper sellers are in the US which means that as a UK seller you will have the edge. The bad news , and it is fairly bad, is that it has no ranking at all which is usually a sign that it hasn't sold at all for months even years. Signed copies don't usually attract much of a premium on Amazon, you might be better off trying it on ebay where you can 'play up' the signed aspect. Alterntatively does this artist have a fan base, if so see if it is worth offering in the small ads on any fan magazine.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Feeling a bit depressed at the moment and thought I would post on here for a bit of encouragement.
last week I laid out the most money I have ever spent on books for a job lot from a personal library and am busy trying to explain to OH why spending nearly £150 on books that are currently making the dining room unusuable was a good business idea. The thing is these books should sell, they aren't popular books by any means, but are all near perfect hardbacks in a specialist subject, some are as low as 80,000 in the ranking but despite having almost 100 uploaded already I haven't made a single sale. I would usually expect that books in the double figure thousands, in very good condition and priced to undercut the others should slowly drift out..but zilch, nothing na da.
I just have a horrible sinking feeling that I may have made a horrible mistake..despite several of the books with 'fair' rankings and upwards of £100 a go..I've even undercut some of the other sellers by £40 just to get a sale. I just want to sell one to know that all is not lost..mind you I actually haven't sold anything at all since Thursday anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
