Hi Geranium72, they may have gone away and not be answering/checking their emails? Sometimes poeple order books without thinking about what will happen if they are too big to go through the letterbox and no one is there for delivery. Alternatively your emails could be going in their spam folder!
You could just write to them by snail mail and say the book is there if they still want it but postage will need to be paid again - they could just send you stamps to the value if they want it sending again?
Good luck Teapot0 -
Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered before, but what are your ideas to shift stuff you cannot sell?
do you:
a) try and off load at charity shop
b) get shot of it on free-cycle
c) sell it as job-lot on ebay
d) car-boot it
e) a missing alternative i should be looking into?
I'm talking about the older paperbacks - the ones that are listed by their hundreds at 1p, the out of date non-fiction, travel guides etc.
Your comments, tips and general chat on this matter would be appreciated!
Thanks0 -
Hiya everyone, not been on here in AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS been so busy.
Anycase after having a bit of a Time Out without selling on Amazon properly for a while I figured I might as well put some more bits on & slowly build it back up.
I bought a PS2 game for my DD - new - from a high street store but it was in the sale, she took the cellophane off but never played it then decided she didn't really want it. No cellophane wrapper so couldn't return it so I put it on Amazon with a few others that she had, I sold it for £5 (so minus postage & Amazon costs I didn't get all that much for it).
It sold 16.35 on Mon, was posted out Tuesday. They have left feedback today
1 out of 5
Dilivery was slow and seller said it was new but when i got it, it had scratches and chololate on it and the disk was scratched quiet bad, would not recomend this seller.
It was posted in an A4 envelope folded down, when I got to the PO the staff said I had to unfold the envelope as apparently your not supposed to post them like that so she unfolded it & retaped the parcel up for me at the counter. As far as I could see it was all taped up well so I'm not sure how it's got damaged, as for the chocolate (if that's what it is?) your guess is as good as mine????
Suggestions what I should do now please?
Also is it just me but I've had 5 sales in a week & I only had 20 items on there, putting a few more bits on today, but I thought that was a lot to sell that quick? Are people preferring Marketplace to Amazon itself at the moment?
Thanks a lot in advance x2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0 -
I have several outlets for my discarded books and it can change as places change what they want.
At the moment I have a local church that will take all the 1p novels i can throw at them, they even want the dreaded Danielle Steeles and other penny roughs. I take bag loads down every market day for their stall and they usually shift them at between 50p and £1 a go.
Two local charity shops also take specialised stuff, they each want slightly different items so that works quite well. In desperation I also put some of my front drive and suggest local passer bys help themselves and leave a donation to charity if they wish. I also do several charity book stalls a month for various charities and I managed to take £57 at one!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi Princess, its a difficult one
2 thoughts spring to mind - first is not very charitable but it does seem to happen with non book items. If you contact the buyer and ask them to return the goods and you will then offer a full refund chances are the game you get back will not be the one you sent out which was obviously not scratched [you're sure your DD didn't open it and somehow get choccy paws over it? Did you look at it before you posted it out]? Chances are that you will then have a non sellable game though.
2nd thought is [presuming you're a small seller and would like to keep good feedback] you could very politely email the buyer and tell them you when you sent the game and that you have a POP, explain the disc was in mint condition when sent and that feedback like that really affects you as a small seller. Ask if they would consider removing the feedback [tell them how to do it] and that you will then refund them. You don't get the game back so lose out but this sounds like a scam so its best to try and get feedback rmeoved and just move on. Unfortunately this does seem to be happening now that Amazon have stopped removing feedback unless its abusive or has personal details in it.
You could also leave feedback re this buyer [word it carefully] to alert other sellers to them. Did you check their feedback already?
Worth a try though - sorry this has happened

Hello Soolin,
wondering if you have sold any books from your job lot? Hope they are starting to shift?
I spent about £40 on books [no cheap ones near me] and tho they can all be listed for far more than I paid [am getting much better at picking out the ones that will sell] they are not shifting at all. I sold a few penny boks last week and then this week a couple that have been listed for more than a year and one was a philosophy book that I knew would sell but it took a lot longer than I expected. Just wish some of the newly listed books would go... blooming credit crunch0 -

Disc was throughly (sp?) checked before it got sent, I have emailed Amazon, awaiting a reply. I have since had another email from the buyer just simply says
"I am contacting Amazon about this fraudulent transaction" so would love to see what Amazon have to say about it, if they try swapping the discs I will be mad  I never thought of that but now you've said it it's obvious really.2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0 -

Yes I had a very small flurry..I've sold two on Amazon and four on ebay so I've recouped around £45 already after fees so I'm only £80+ 'down' at the moment with well over 100 books left from the batch. I've got a chance to buy more from the same batch if I want and will probably lay out another £100 or so next week but with a view to long term sales rather thana quick turnover that I usually like.
The last box I bought from someone who advertises on the Amazon seller board was full of ASDA and Sainsbury cook book type things which were rubbish, so I am loath to buy more even though I think I was probably given an unsorted box by accident.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I 'secretly' mark all CD/DVD/Game disc's specifically to avoid this type of scam [particularly with higher value/rare items] and then photograph the 'marks' as proof .... I'm actually waiting for someone to try this so I can reply back with ...''Err you appeared to have returned the wrong item, unfortunately I cannot process your refund until the correct item has been safely returned to me" ... having said that I have never had a complaint about a scratched/damaged disc [yet].
Is there a possibilty the buyer is confusing you with another seller [of a similar item they have puchased] and left you feedback intended for the other seller by mistake?
Also would it be possible for the disc to come off the disc holder clip it 'clicks' on to and then rattle about in the case, being scratched in transit?
hope it helps.Learn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:
Regards
