i received this e-mail off amazon a couple of days ago, ive sold quite a few things and never had this before, can anyone explain what has happened?

We're sorry to inform you that payment from the buyer for the
    following item(s) have been delayed:

    Quantity Item

We expect to receive payment shortly, and will contact you as soon as
that happens. Please continue to reserve this item for the buyer, but
DO NOT DISPATCH it until you receive confirmation from Amazon.co.uk
    that your payment is secured.

If 72 hours pass from the time of purchase and you have not been notified
of payment, please consider the transaction void. Once a transaction has
been voided we will automatically relist the item in the order so it will
again be visible for potential buyers.

When the shipping says "standard", does that mean you have to send it first class or can you send it second?

if i can post within 24 hours i send it second class, otherwise i would send it first, ive never had any complaints about items being sent second class.

It's a pending and it means the buyers payment has failed for some reason. You don't need to do anything, just check after a few days that the item has been relisted but be warned the last pending I had took 6 days to show up again in my open listings!

Thanks, I wasn't sure. I only got the order late pm yesterday, so I'll send it second class today.

just had this email from amazon, thought it might help/interest a few people:

"Are you making the most of the opportunities to list and sell Books on Amazon.co.uk? Not sure whether that treasured book exists in our catalogue? Come across a fantastic deal on new books but not sure whether you can list them on Amazon.co.uk? Well our catalogue just got bigger! And we mean BIGGER BY MILLIONS OF NEW TITLES!

There are loads and loads of new and used titles that you can list against. From Art to Biography, History to Religion, Science Fiction to Politics – our Book catalogue contains a wide variety of titles to meet the most discerning of tastes.

Why not try listing those books you thought you could not sell? It is surely worth the effort."

I got that to - I think amazon is trying to pull rank on all the minority and rare book dealers... The message that I read is: if it's got pages, amazon want to be the only source..

My next innocent question is about the uploading of multiple books, as an inventory file.

Does anyone have much experience of this? I'm looking for information like, how long does it normally take for changes to take effect? Also whats the standard deviation like on the time taken? I uploaded a file (only 100 or so listings) about half an hour ago and haven't seen any changes.

PS thanks for the help with the size guides, I've ordered my free one online and will pop down to stables when I get a chance.

Erm... does anyone know of a quick way to close all of your listings at once - I may have uploaded everything twice...

quickest way to do this is with a purge and replace file with only 1 item on it, then close that manually!
