Thanks.
This looks great, listed the CD and hoping for the best.Shall list more later.
Does the advice on the first page still apply? ie.that self help books are popular? Recipe books popular too?
Sorry to ask so many Q's,I am just so unsure.:o
Shall go into town tommorrow..and have a look at a few charity shops.0 -
Self help books can be popular but watch out for cookery books as they can be very heavy and although they can sell well the postage is a problem. Also don't bother with any supermarket own cookery books, they don't sell at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you for creating this thread that's packed with information :-)
I've been selling a few books on Amazon that had been lying on the shelves for sometime, or that I find in charity shops at a really low price, and made over 140 pounds so far in the past 6 months. It's not a grand total but it's a welcome addition in the wallet :-)
I seemed to have read on another thread (but cannot remember which one, sorry) that there's a minimum abount that's not taxable, after which one must declare to IR and pay taxes toward. And does it have to be filed on a separate form or does it come in as 'other income'? (I am aware that one must be registered as sole-trader: Ok with that :-) )
(If this question is not suitable for this thread, please direct me to the right one, as I'm a little lost with which one to post this question to.)
Thank you :-)0 -
Hi and welcome to MSE!
As long as you are only selling your old books that you no longer want you are fine, you don't need to dso anything. The moment you buy a book specifically to resell, either new or second hand you are trading and would need to declare yourself as such.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi everyone - just wanted to say hello. I have finally bitten the bullet and after months of nagging from OH have decided to part with some of my beloved books (sob). He does have a point that I will never read them again but even so.......!
Have just listed my first five and I am off to do another 20 or so - thats all I can bear for tonight! Wish me luck for my first sale. x x x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I did sell one pretty quickly, though, with another one still waiting to go. One day, maybe. I don't bother with novels because they all seem to be listed for 1p.
Best of luck Penguin. Once you sold one book, you'll soon get addicted to it and will start rummaging through all the shelves and boxes in the house for more to sell0
