emweaver, sadly Amazon often don't support the sellers. As you have proof of postage I would just submit a claim to the Royal Mail. You will get a refund and they then have the option of following it up. If the buyer keeps having 'claims' for lost items against them that should ring alarm bells with the RM.

    Good luck

    FFM :)

Thanks but RM only compensate if the buyer signs and return the declaration form. I had this with ebay last yr and they didnt return the declaration, so RM class it as delivered and itmust have been otherwise they would of returned it.

I dont feel it fair im out of pocket

Emptypurse, obviously it depends how much local charity shops charge in your area. If I am buying 'on spec' 'cos I don't know what a book is worth, I don't pay more than 50p and make sure it is slim enough to be posted as a Large Letter.

As you try different books you will get a 'feel' for what sells and what doesn't. If money is tight, note down some titles and check out their resale value at a library or at home and then pop back and buy them (hopefully they will still be there.)

Very popular books like da vinci code are not worth buying as they sell for such a little amount and have to be sent as packet size.

    HTH FFM :)

I've put in claims before and had them paid out, I had to send in the details of the buyer and evidence of the refund - but no signed declaration from them.

Is there a different system for 'ebay' perhaps - maybe RM are fed up of bogus claims - I think Amazon is seen as being a bit more 'credible' (probably not the word I am looking for).

Buyers are only asked to confirm non delivery on a random basis..only a small percentage of buyers/receivers are contacted.

I can't help with your specific question, sorry. However the seller boards suggest that telephone support has been having problems with no assistance available. I did email yesterday about a problem and got a response within 12 hours, so email support seems to be OK.

If your card is near expiry that might have caused the problem? How long ago was it that you last paid any pro fees?

Thanks for the quick reply-i will try e mailing

Pro seller fees were last paid around 10 days agao & card doesn't expire until 2010 so that doesn't appear to be a problem

    Thanks

Surely theyre not legally allowed to take money out of your bank or charge your card without your permission though?

By giving them your card to take the monthly subs you are giving them permission.
