I sell toys on Amazon but don't have a pro subscription. Am i right in thinking that if I have a pro subscription I can list any item (even those that arn't curently on the system) and add a picture? If I paid for a months subscription and listed new stuff like crazy would the listings stay up even if I cancelled my pro subscription? And would it let me relist my items?

    Regards.

Yes! If the item has a barcode, if not it's not likely to be possible under the Toys section, though I believe you can create new listings under the Home & Garden category.

Yes! Once you have created a listing it is there forever, unless a copyright hilder gets involved. The disadvantage is your competition can then also sell their stock under your listing too.

And would it let me relist my items?

Yes! as a non-promerchant you would have to relist manually every 60 days. Though if you have a more than 30 sales a month you would save a little money, and you wouldn't have to relist every month

Out of the boxes of books i bought last week for £10 I have just made my first sale, £28 which will net me around £20 after Amazons cut an dpostage fees, so I consider that a good deal.

Up until now I had been rather disappointed in the books as around 5th of them were supermarket cook books the 99p sort 'quick pasta meals' type of thing. However at least I've covered my costs plus a bit of profit on the side so I am happy.

I think this is a sign that there really is a recession, I used to buy a lot more books almost a whim..I fancied the look of them or I saw a good review and I wouldn't think twice about hitting the 'buy' button. Now I actually stop and think about it and maybe only buy if I really want the book and can't get it from the library.

I also used to buy a lot of the 2 for £7 novels in Tesco when I did my shopping (on the train to work I can read a book a day) now I can't afford to do that as the cost of my groceries has gone up so much I have nothing left in the supermarket shop budget.

Has anyone noticed as well that despite this being the exam season text books have not sold as well as I would normally expect?

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me. I sold a book in Amazon, got £9.64 including postage credit and happily started to pack the book and print the lable from Royal Mail web service just to realise that the postage cost would be £10.47. This was order from USA for a heavy book (960g). Is there any cheaper way to send books to USA or do I just have to email the buyer with apologies, refund, relist and this time with UK only?

Very grateful for all advice please.

960g is £10.67 by airmail small packets or you can send airmail printed paper rate for £10.61, a massive saving of 6p!

the only cheaper way of sending is Surface Mail Printed Papers From 56 days Up to £36 No £5.73
Surface Mail Small Packets From 56 days Up to £36 No £5.73but you wouldn't be able to send that way is it would take too long to arrive.

Personally I would send it anyway and take the hit on postage. Feedback is mega important on Amazon and a neg for refusing to send a book is going to look very bad on your record.

It really is worth making sure you limit overseas books to those that are light enough to be economical. I have very few book available to the states, possibly as few as 10% of my stock, I have a few more available in Europe, but most are UK only due to weight.

I'd send it too (got caught in the early days with posting to New Zealand(!) but got great feedback.

And you'll take a hit on postage on a heavy book in the UK anyway.

Are any other sellers offering it for less than £3.53? That way you could order it from them £3.53 + £6.94 postage to USA (£10.47 total) and you would still have the original book to resell (UK only).

Some larger sellers have contracts with RM, so their postage charges are not as high.

    Just an idea.
