I'm another that also uses second class. For th efirst billing period ever since I have been a pro merchant I failed to sell my 30 books thta I set myself as a target. I'm listing books every day, some with good rankings, and I still can't sell anything, I'm actually selling more books on ebay now than Amazon.

I also post second class with a few exceptions and have good feedback often commenting on speed of delivery.

Soolin, I've had to pay pro merchant fees from my card rather than sales for the second month running. Thinking of coming off it for now. Amazon seems dire at the moment and no sign of picking up :p am wondering if I should try selling on ebay as well?

Anyone finding its going well on Amazon?

Looking at the sellers boards it seems mixed. half the people are saying it is their worst week ever, and others saying they can't keep up with the sales. There has bene more 'unplanned events' though and that often impacts on certain sales but not across the board.

my sales are a joke right now and im beyond glad that i cancelled my pro subscription !! sales in last day 0 sales in last 7 days 0

I always post 2nd class (even though when i first started selling i got the total !!!! when someone had dared to post something to me 2nd class when I thought it HAD to be 1st - oh how ive grown ;)) unless its a large letter 60-odd pence job then i send 1st.

Ive not had a single complaint about postage yet,

I had one complaint of slow service. She ordered on a Thursday night about 11 pm - I processed and sent it out on Friday to N.I and she complained it was slow as it took until Monday morning to get there ... dunno.gif

I picked up some books today from a bulk seller who advertises on Amazon. A little disappointed to find so many Marks and Spencer and sainsbury's books among the few I have dragged out of the car so far, but hopefully there will be some good ones further down the boxes.

I left some of the Sainsbury's ones out on the drive with the usual note telling people to help themselves and maybe leave a donation for charity (all receipts and details are available for inspection BTW). Someone took a bag load and left 20p..oh well, it still beats another trip round the charity shops trying to find someone who will take more books.

Hi, I just received this back from amazon when i asked about postingPlease understand that we do not have a fixed method of dispatch forsellers. Marketplace sellers are required to dispatch items by firstClass. This is because buyers pay first class postage and also you arerequired to dispatch the item within two working days of receiving theorder confirmation. Does everyone send first class as from reading earlier advice and threads it sounded like you could post 2nd class if posted the same day.

It would be interesting to know who you asked and what you asked to get this response as nowhere on the site is a definition of what postal service should be used, only that you are required to dispatch within 2 working days of the order.

As a 'full-time' seller on amazon I have used second class for the last 2 years plus and only had one customer comment on this in about 10,000 orders.

Nowhere on amazon does it state that a buyer is entitled to first class postage, and to get the same service from amazon you have to pay a premium for delivery or join their premium service. With postal costs rising year on year and no sign of amazon wishing to increase postal allowances (as it would make them very uncompetitive) the insistence on using first class in that reply is somewhat of a joke. If I received similar I would be making very strong complaints to amazon about being given misleading information.
