It's a scam. All a buyer has to do is click 'pay' and the whole transaction will go through the Amazon system, this is just a scam to get you to deal off Amazon and lose their protection.

Personally I would not respond but instead send the email to Amazon. If you do want to reply I would keep it brief and just say something like 'due to people trying to scam buyers Amazon require you to use their system to make purchases and once Amazon inform me that they have cleared payment from you I will arrange for goods to be sent'.

    Thanks Soo,
I have passed the email onto Amazon and will not respond to the seller. Thought it seemed dodgy.

    Hi AB,

not a good idea to reply to the email, its an attempt to get your email address via your reply and the next thing is you will receive a fake 'Sold Dispatch Now' email which some sellers do fall for. Its fine to keep your mobile listed and just watch out for scams like this. The only way I'd post out an electrical item would be to check first in my payments received that the cash was there.

I think scammers have moved on from ebay to Amazon and particularly target new sellers.

    Good luck with it Teapot

Thanks teapot. I haven't replied to the email and I won't either. I will also keep the phone listed, as I really do want to sell it.

    Thanks for the help :)

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere in this rather long thread, but I have a point to make about selling on Amazon that will be of use to some people.

Six weeks ago I set up an Amazon sellers account and started listing some items, thankfully they started selling rather well and of course I was very pleased. On the face of it I was laughing, the Amazon process is good and it was all rather easy to sell and of course the orders were literally rolling in, sometimes 3 or 4 a day. The items were selling for around £90 each and within 2 weeks I had sold and satisfied 15 orders, around £1300 worth.

On the day that they were supposed to release my sales order value (transfer funds to my bank account) after the first 2 weeks (they pay you every 2 weeks) I had an email from Amazon saying that my account was under review and that it could take up to 30 days for them to release my funds..

I have just today had notification from them that this review is over and my funds will be available for withdrawal (with the usual 6 - 10 banking days time frame) despite me having excellent positive feedback, no complaints, no returns and no non deliveries I have had to wait over 6 weeks, potentially 7 weeks with the clearance time, to get my money. Yes, I did read that they could do this in the participation agreement, but didn't expect 7 weeks!

    Be very careful!

Hi AB, I always get those emails when I list mobiles on Amazon! At first I replied politely on the off chance, in every case this was then followed up with a poorly worded fake SDN telling me to ship to their address in Nigeria immediately. They send them to get hold of your email address. I just ignore them now.

Then again, I don't need to sell much on Amazon now that I am getting emails from ex-heads of state wanting to deposit $millions into my bank account every day.

    Hi Minghis,

sorry to hear you have had a frustrating time with Amazon but this does happen to new sellers who appear and sell loads quickly. I think the key sentence in your post is 'The items were selling for around £90 each and within 2 weeks I had sold and satisfied 15 orders, around £1300 worth.' Amazon will freeze accounts in these circumstances to be sure you are not just taking the cash and disappearing as this happened with quite a few sellers. I think they wait to see feedback and that there are no complaints. At Christmas they pretty much stop new sellers of high proced items from listing at all.

Amazon are a bit of a law unto themselves and it can be hard to get an answer from a person if your account is closed down or funds frozen.
