Has anyone had success from Samtrina Books??

I bought a sample box but it was presorted for me as a favour..a good marketing ploy and nicely done (he is a real character BTW). I suppose even then I dumped 50% and listed the rest. I got my money back easily within a week or two but there was not a huge lot of profit. I still have a dozen or so books listed one of which is at £40 (but sales ranking is abysmal) so probably good for the seller who can afford to sell in the £1 profit range and store books for a while, rather than someone with limited storage looking for a quick profit.

When my current source dries up I will probably get more from Samandtrina.

  • So sounds like they are worth a try then.

Can anyone give me any advice on what the best way is to store books is? At the moment they are all in colapsable crate boxes and im worried that the books are going to get damaged.

Also does anyone has any ideas on indexing the books??

    Thanks guys

  • Hi Samibabe

There are a couple of ideas on indexing books in post no 2 of this thread. The index no on Amazon is called an SKU (that will help you to find the method I suggested in post no 2.)

  • I am thinking of listing on Alibris.

Does anyone here use them? If so what are your thoughts.

    Cheers

  • Hi have just found this thread and read all the way through it - some really useful stuff on here. I am only really getting rid of stuff that otherwise would go to charity shop so as long as I have something left after postage, not really bothered at the moment , but looking at this thread it may become addictive! I have sold a few things on Amazon, self help books mainly and have got some Frank Sinatra videos listed, but I have a few questions that someone may be able to answer for me.

Some of the videos are part of a collection and most are on for £3 or so. This is fine by me as otherwise I would only put them in a charity shop, but one of them has only one other seller and their item is on for £45. What is the point of this? Who would pay that sort of money for a video. Do I still put mine on for £3 or would that look wrong?

I also have some very old books which were my grandmothers. They are leatherette etc. but don't have ISBN numbers because of their age. How do you decide what to sell these for?

  • ^ if it's a rare edition - out of print/not available on dvd or the dvd is edited differently - then a collecter could pay that much but it might just be somebody trying to get as much as possible for something.

List it for as much you feel comfortable with.

It may ensure a very fast sale if you listed it at £3, I'd certainly want to buy it in the hope of reselling it for £40 profit!

Many items, dvd's, VHS, Books, Records were only published in limited numbers and demand for these can far exceed supply. Rare Disney DVD's can often sell for over £60, other items will often sell for in excess of this if their is the demand and very little supply. I regularly sell books for over 10x the original RRP and customers are more than happy to pay this for hard to find items they are desperate to acquire and have been seeking for a while. I'm not going to give any further examples, as these are often books/dvd's/tapes you wouldn't look at twice in a charity shop!
