Well done Boston - great sale.

Soolin apart from the sods law issue, your job sounds very mysterious and top secret - you're the head of MI5 aren't you. Its 'M' isn't it, not Soolin :D

Why not buy some stamps and weigh them yourself? Just post at the local sorting office or post box. That's what I do and it works just fine. Okay you don't get POP but then again how many actually get lost in the post? Obviously if you do sell something of value then wait and send ASAP at a PO with a POP.

I did post a couple of things direct in a postbox, but out of my sales this week I had a 2kg book that went special due to cost, and three airmail ...I told you it is sod's law!

Still no sales at all today...

  • The 2kg parcel would have been a 'challenge' but I do send airmail via the postbox without trouble.

POP on airmail is not particularly useful as RM say that they won't pay out if the item is lost as it may not have been in the UK. Having said that on an occasion when an OS parcel went missing and I did have a POP they did pay up.

I've always been paid out for lost foreign parcels..but strangely enough my post office warned me that they are less likely to pay out if tracking is used as once it leaves the UK (and most tracking goes that far) they consider they have done their bit and deny responsibility. I therefore try to limit my overseas sales to books that go for less than £34 so I can just use standard mail.

I have made arrangements for someone to go to the PO for me on Monday , just in case..but guess what..still no sales :rotfl:

Typical :rotfl: Watch the sales flood in from early Monday morning after you have left for work.

Ive noticed that you guys seem to talk about ratings? could someone please tell me what this means!

Also over the past month ive been using the print your own postage on the royal mail website, what a godsend, no more having to get to the PO before it closes, just pop them in the box!

You have to make a judgement based on how many times things actually go missing against spending your life in a PO queue.

I have posted literally thousands of books to Amazon customers and have probably had to refund for 20 (that's a guess) - but it is so low that looking back it was the right decision for me.

I do get a POP for high value items and send Special Delivery for very high value items.
