I class very lightly read paperbacks as very good. If the spine creasing is very obvious I might knock the category back to just good.

Could someone please help me with choosing the condition of my books. I have paperback novels that I have read once, I am a non-smoker and I don't eat when I am reading so there are no marks on the books whatsoever (I also use a bookmark so no creasing). The only thing is with them being paperbacks they have creasing on the spine so should I chose very good or good because I'm not sure whether they class spine creasing as 'spine damage'. Thanks

Amazon are quite prescriptive regarding 'condition', a book with spine creases should not be listed as very good - at best it would be 'good', see this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=3149161#books

    Books

We suggest that you list new and used books at a price lower than the Amazon.co.uk price.
    Collectable books
Must be signed, out of print or otherwise unique--you will have an opportunity to say why your copy is collectable. We suggest that you list such books at a price greater than the Amazon.co.uk price.
    New books
Brand-new, unused, unread and in perfect condition.
    Used books
    • Like New: an apparently unread copy in perfect condition. Dust cover is intact, pages are clean and not marred by notes or folds. Suitable for presenting as a gift.
    • Very Good: a copy that has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
    • Good: a copy that has been read but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact and the cover is intact (including dust cover, if applicable). The spine may show signs of wear.
    • Acceptable: a readable copy. All pages and the cover are intact (dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but notes cannot obscure the text.
What we will not accept for sale at Amazon.co.uk: mouldy, badly stained or unclean copies; copies with missing pages or obscured text; promotional books, including advance reading copies. Uncorrected proof copies are prohibited.

    Hallo,

Anyone know of a quick way to search all my sold items... including those beyond a year?

I'm having one of those 'sold it on GM but couldn't find the book in the garage this morning, did I sell it on Amazon or what? If I was at home I could check by sold emails but I don't have access right now' moments!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

    Hi Fay,

    you may have figured it out by now but just in case..... this is how I search closed items from a while ago;

Go to payment account and sign in
    Click on 'Search Transactions'
Choose a date range from the first option [toggle the radio button]
You can either go for a full list of sales or else use the bottom option to search in various ways ie by title etc.

    Hi folks,

Just logged in to my Greenmetropolis account and noticed at the top of the 'My Account' page there is now a Customer ID number and the chance to change it.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen it and if they are planning to change their ID to, say, whatever they use on Amazon or elsewhere - or something completely different - or to leave it as is and to stay annonymous as it were.

    Just curious.

Have had 3 sales through today from Amazon - my first all week!

Hi number three, yes I noticed that last night on my Greenmet account but hadn't done anything about it. Do you know where it shows up - is it linked to all the listings? I was a bit tired by the time I noticed it and didn't investigate what it meant so not sure if I would use it or not.

I got my first Amazon sale for a week tonight - just the one though but it was a £10 book so not too bad. Had been wondering if it was worth staying pro merchant because sales have been so slow but the thought of doing all that relisting at the same time puts me off

Well done on your sales - hope its a good Easter Hols saleswise all round

  • Hi everyone

I'm new to the board and found it after searching the internet looking for help.

About three weeks ago I started selling books on Amazon. I uploaded about 300 and they were starting to sell quite well. About a week ago I received an email from Amazon saying my account had been shut down because I had "violated the participation agreement". The problem is, I don't actually know what I've done wrong. My girlfriend's father sells books on Amazon too and the only thing I can think of is I logged into my Amazon account at their home where he has logged in too and Amazon traced this. But even if they have traced this I don't see why it would be a problem - we're not selling the same books. Added to this, he has spoken to a representative from Amazon before and they said it was fine to open several accounts in the same household.

I got in touch with Amazon and they said I had to email Sentinel. I did this but only received a standard email back saying I had been banned.

From what I've said does anyone know what I've done wrong? And is there anything I can do to get my account reinstated.

    Thank you in advance.

Hi, I've replied to your PM. As you have discovered customer services will not deal with this problem at all. only Sentinel will and they take weeks to respond to emails and have no telephone contact information.

There are a number of threads over the months on the Amazon seller forums so it is probably best to see if you can ask for help on there from other experienced sellers.

Did they differentiate between seller accounts or buyer accounts? As having more than one seller account registered to an address can be a problem as far as amazon are concerned.
What is more likely is that you have something in your sellers comments which may be causing a problem, amazon can autamtically read comments as URL's and it is quite common for this to happen innocently when describing a book. for instance - "sent from UK. Same day dispatch." would read as URL, so would the UK after a full stop even if a space was before it. Also as URL's are based in Spain (ES), Norway (NO), India (IN) could also be flagged, the best way to avoid this is not to use any full stops in a description.

Keep emailing sentinel, you will eventually get a human response, though it may take a while. Unfortunately their department does not have a phone line.

I doubt it was because of using a different computer to log on with, as if your account had been closed for this reason, so would their account be.

    Good luck getting it sorted.
