  • My account is registered to where I live - not my girlfriends house so there is still only one account registered to each address - this is why I'm confused as to why they banned me. Perhaps they think one person has set up two accounts - I could see how it would appear that way. I'm going to keep emailing Sentinel and hope I get a response. Luckily this isn't my main source of income otherwise I would be going crazy with worry. Thanks for your help

    Hi Teapot,

    I did a bit of searching on the Greenmet site last night and it seems the ID numbers show against each of the books for sale. It was interesting as you could see that some of the bigger sellers had more than one copy of a particular book listed, although at that time only ID numbers were actually showing.

    It will be interesting to see if anyone decides to change their ID to their trading name. I shall wait and see for the time being - as a small seller I'm not sure whether would be a positive or negative to use my Amazon name, maybe I shall come up with an alias!

  • Hi Paddyi

    Did you have any proof copies listed? Just a thought because they are not allowed by Amazon.

    Not sure about Rupert's theory on the URL, I have fully punctuated sentences in my descriptions, and use 'same day dispatch', 'from UK', etc

    Good luck, hope you get it sorted out.

    Nope no proof copies - everything I was selling was legal by Amazon standards.

    commas are fine, it's the full stops that 'sentinel' objects to, or at least this is what causes the software to think you're sneaking a URL in.
    Feel free to try this description and see if the listing gets closed -

    "Book in UK. Good condition. In perfect reading order. Especially rare copy. Money Mack Guarantees. All items in stock for same day dispatch."

    I wouldn't make this stuff up, it's a fairly regular topic on the amazon sellers board.

    Though getting back to the OP, a G/F was just mentioned though her account was registered at a different address, if they have a seller account and the Bank Account is registered at the same address this could well have been noted by amazon, also any orders by her either using your account, address for delivery or credit card would have linked the 2 accounts and caused an automatic suspension.

    I was about to list a book for the first time on Amazon but I'm a bit confused as to how much I would actually get back. When Amazon say they charge 2.75 for the postage, you don't actually get that amount back? I went through the process of listing and if I listed my book 1p cheaper than the cheapest that was already on there it woud list for £1.39, I worked out that to send it via first class this would cost me £1.94. Under 'amazon marketplace fees (if sold)' it states £1.39, VAT is 20p then under that it states 'total you will receive is sold' is £2.55. So if I take the £1.94 it will cost me to post this I will only make 61p?

    Hi Sherbie,

    welcome to the thread - several points from your message;

    1. No need to send 1st Class - 2nd class is fine and post ASAP and within Amazon guideline times.

    2. Better to list at the same price rather than undercutting by 1p - some big sellers have automatic price cutting software so they will then make their price 1p less so you do the same and before you know it both books are listed at 1p - not good :eek:

    3. Always take postage into consideration when pricing - set your price appropriately so you don't make a loss. Larger sellers have cheap postage deals with RM - as a small seller you can't compete.

    4. Not all buyers go for the cheapest option - give full descriptions and with good feedback you might find you are bought before the cheaper ones go.

    5. When you list, Amazon tells you what you will receive if the book sells, there are various fees that come off so make sure its still worth it after that and postage.

    6. Have a look at the first two postings on this thread - lots of useful info there.

    Good luck with selling - its addictive :D Post again if you have more questions. Teapot

    Hi Afur, the following quote is from the seller participation agreement;

    1.1.4 To register you must provide your real name, address, phone number, e-mail address and valid credit or debit card information. You warrant to Amazon that the information you provide during the registration process (and any notification of change of such information) is true and correct.

    So it looks like you do need a card, I seem to remember reading somewhere that debit cards were no longer going to be able to be used for this purpose but not sure if thats happened yet. You can always ring Amazon CS to get any questions answered.

    i have a question about asking for feedback :rolleyes:

    i know that few buyers leave feedback , but i do get quite a lot emailing saying very pleased with book , quickly delivery ect ect

    now what i want to know is would it be wrong to email them back , saying something like, glad you are pleased with the goods , would it be possible to leave me feedback to build up my rating :confused:

    any suggestions
