  • Hello Amazonians (I've been slacking lately and I just have a handful of PSP games on sale)

I had to check something as a buyer today, specifically the deadline for filing an A-Z claim. It's 3 months, apparently ;) (Curse you, broken search!)

Possibly one for the front page? (Apologies if I missed it... I searched the page for 'A-Z')
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • Hello, I was thinking about selling some collectors toys on Amazon. ( mixture of new Corgi Classics and older Matchbox Yesteryears ) The sales fees will take a hefty chunk from the profits, but with the lighter items I can recoup a bit with the postage rebate. Won't buyers complain about paying £3.50 for postage on a light item? Also, the stuff I'm selling, although I can sell at the cheapest price on Amazon, buyers will still be able to get it cheaper elsewhere. (Ebay). Is it worth the bother of listing?

    Thanks in advance.

  • nicci985,

My last job lot from Priority was split 50/50 with another seller, i found that although i had a few gems that sold for around the £10 the money was slowly clawed back by the 1p books so you may find it un-suitable for your £3 per book return,

I would estimate that i dumped around 15-20% as they were too tatty or too large and only 1P,

I dont mean to sound negative because I have made my money back and then some but its a slow process and would the lots are suitable to high turnover sellers rather than high value !!

I've read through this thread twice until my eyes bleed and am now more confused than ever LOL. I have a small collection of 40 or so books, all paperback, thrillers, crime, bodice rippers (from my mum!). Having looked at amazon my collection seems easily available with lots listing for 1p and it looks like with the fees and charges I would make very little. Greenmet looks better but do any posters sell many books through GM? Is it worth me listing them? - many thanks MATH

  • GM is certainly an easier system to understand - it costs you nothing till the book is sold and you know exactly how much you will get. I'd be a bit careful about the postage still though especially as it is going up as you might get not much for the standard paperbacks. Great if they send for 60p but not so great if they are £1.52 + envelopes of course. Lot of hassle for £1.30 profit

If there are 3 pages or more at Amazon for 1p and 10+ on GM - and a ranking of greater than 5000, unless you got the space I'd take them to the charity shop or your next boot sale personally. I dont have many on GM but sell on average about 5 a month.

    Hope this helps

A standard paperback currently costs £1.52 to send 2nd class which is more than a basic seller receives on a 1p book on Amazon, so not worth selling. Thinner paperbacks, especially the old sci fi pulp fiction ones can often go as a large letter if you are careful with your packaging and like boston says they might be worth putting on Amazon but only if the sales ranking is encouraging.

I have approx 150 books on greenmet and sell approx 2 a month, but again once there are more than 5 copies of the book available I would hesitate about listing it and might charity shop it instead.

  • Oops I wasn't very clear I don't think - was talking about GM rather than Amazon where I dont list anything for 1p anyway!
On GM I still only sell if £2+ profit - so no i don't list the £1.52 ones unless there is extra postage to be had.

Boston..I think it is me muddying the waters, not you :p

I have some very odd criteria for listing on Greenmet and I do have a number of thicker paperbacks on there where my profit will be just under £1.40 per book. However they are all well chosen to be hopefully quick sellers.
