new to all this and was wondering is it worth selling all my Lady bird books(hundred's) on amazon or ebay. I have read the first article on this page but it all looks abit daunting to start with. how do you gat paid. Thanks T

edit can you sell anything else or is it just books.

for a quick sale you could sell as a bulk lot on ebay. Though you would receive more money for selling them individually on either site. Unless they are rare editions, you may get very little for them individually.

You get paid on amazon by direct transfer to your bank. First payment is made 2 weeks after your first sale. Paypal or other stated methods of payment are useable on ebay though paypal make a small charge to withdraw amounts less than £50, though you can use this money to buy from ebay, you can't use money in your amazon account to buy from amazon.

If your ladybirds are old and rare first editions, selling on ebay may be the better option, some old ones are worth quite a bit, but the majority would only be worth pennies.

The other big difference is on amazon you pay no fees until the item sells, on ebay you have to pay a listing fee whether the item sells or not and another fee upon sale of the item.

Research your books, there are some absolute crackers in the Ladybird series well worth setting a decent price for. I sold a copy of 'Cleopatra' for £10 on Amazon and have sold several others at just below that. Yet others were almost valueless and I sold them in lots on ebay for about 30p a book in total.

Do amazon charge an extra fee for recieving the money? je. credit card fees or does the percentage they have mentioned include this? Thanks
  • I agree with Soolin, I sold a copy of Tootles the Taxi recently on Ebay for more than £10 and a job lot of 69 'worthless' ladybirds for approx £12.

Well worth researching each one individually.

Play.com charge an additional 5% to withdraw your money, but Amazon do not.

First sale of the new year - a stopping smoking book. I listed it on 23 December, figuring someone, somewhere would be making a resolution soon! Just wish I had a few more of these to list :)
