Chutney? I use mango just chopped in meaty dishes ~ fantastic with chicken or pork.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
  • I thought about smoothies too, but only have an electric whisk. Would that work do you think? I don't even have a sieve at the moment as mine went rusty in the dishwasher and not yet replaced it. I have a load of fruit at the moment so will make a fruit salad, and hope someone comes to visit, to help us eat it.

    Hi,

why not just have a totally fruit salad day, give your little bod a rest from all the toxins, feel happy, be happy :D .

    Hi,

a friend told me once that you've got to eat mango over the bath, seems there is so much juice escapes down your chin, pitty to lose the goodness.

  • chuck some ginger nut biccies in the blender. cut up some of the mangoes and put plain yoghurt on top then sprinkle the biscuit crumbs over the top. YUMMY!

But 5??? thats a lot! could you maybe cube them up and freeze them or blend them up and freeze them and have smoothies later inthe week/month.

I bought a box of mangoes the other day (moment of madness lol) but ended up doing exactly what Scenic Route suggested - cubing them up and freezing them, and I've been using them up in desserts and smoothies. I've also got a bag full of the slushy bits that I couldn't cube and I've been using that as coulis for yogurt etc. I also make a savoury mango chicken that was nice, I just googled for a recipe and found one.

Ooooh, just had another thought. Iceland are currently selling Del Monte mango smoothie lollies that are gorgeous. I'd imagine that they've got a few other things in them too but I bet if you blended mangoes with a tin of pineapple in juice and then froze it in lolly moulds you'd get a really yummy lolly. You could even add banana or lime for a tropical lolly.

As all the supermarkets seem to have mangoes on special offer at the mo, I bought a few and made some of Delia's Mango Chutney... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

I didn't stick 100% to the recipe... I added lemon juice and rind (purely because I had one kicking around) and bit of chilli to liven it up... and it tastes fab, even though I haven't allowed it the specified time to mellow.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!

    Hi all,

I have 3 fresh mangoes which are looking more and more unhappy. I could do with ideas of what to do with them!

I was thinking about doing some kind of mango sponge, like a pineapple upside down cake but with mango, does anyone have any ideas/tips to share?

    TIA

    Caroline

Edited to say: it doesn't have to be mango sponge, just any non-savoury mango recipe!
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D
