SFD number 2 yesterday. Bought a lamp that had been out of stock for a few weeks to finish off my bedroom renovation. Money was put aside when I first wanted to buy it and is from renovations budget so not counting it as a spend.
Finally interviewed and appointed someone to take this job off my hands at work. Less than 6 school weeks until I can return to my own job
Have a great day everyone.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
New roof and car £8557/£19003 New kitchen £396/£5039 Credit card Paid Student loan Paid0 -
Simple pleasures I really appreciate, -sacked off the gym will walk/run in the park instead and save £25 a month. Good tea and coffee –going to the market on a Saturday, watching the kids gorge on Strawberries and Blueberries and grapes. Clean bedding, coming back into a room I have cleaned and it still being tidy (rare as hen’s teeth).
Persevere –Need to bump up the savings for the house renovations, need to get on with quotes but I hate the whole process. Need to lose weight. I can do this, I have done this before.
Reduce - Think about what you really need and is there a better way to consume. -ditch the Tassimo and go ground instead, they are making no effort to make reusable/degradable pods, and it is not easy to recycle round here, my weight - needs addressing, mortgage balance coming down nicely, no new clothes (except underwear – and even then the c/s sells M&S new) growing seeds in back yard. Repurposing clothes I have with the aid of sewing machine and elastic waistbands. I have so many ruined dresses because of factor 6million sunblock. Once it gets on your clothes you cannot get the damn stuff out again, and over winter some of my clean ‘put away’ clothes have gone yellow round the neckline, and the only thing that I can think of, is the sunblock. Can't do without it but it is killing my clothes!
Invest - in yourself, your family, your home - the things that really matter to you - Need new sofas, sports bra, trainers, table and chairs in yard so I can listen to birds in other people’s gardens, and more Factor lead sunblock to kill my clothes, I might end up naked or in rags, but I will not be sunburnt!
New - Don't look back at past mistakes and failures -I don’t look back, I am not going that way, not sure I always learn from my mistakes though, my dreams remind me; usually, of people I would rather not remember.
Grab - Do something which takes you outside of your comfort zone at least once this month.I have very little planned for 2 week Easter school hols as DS1 is supposed to have study sessions in every subject. I have just applied for a job. Also £1 football sessions just sent me an email about Easter hols sessions.
Have a budget and stick to it - £100 a week budget,
NO spending in coffee shops. If you do it needs to be planned in advance and budgeted for. NSD target - 124/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

NSD # 2 yesterday for moi.
See no reason why I can't do the same again today.0 -
Hi all
NSD 2 yesterday0 -
Welcome back Lauralozzle. Have a fabulous holiday KerryWoman.
f0xh0les - we are having some big jobs done on our house this year hopefully, I too hate having people in to do anything, I am a perfectionist and tradesmen on the whole do not seem to be.
I dragged the charity bags out yesterday and had another pass over everything I had put in, I took out two running vests which I seem to remember ride up but I will give them another go and if they do they will be washed and donated, also a pair of wide leg jeans which I have worn so much they have rips in both knees, I love them but the kids hate them. A little yellow floaty scarf with birds on came out too, the lady in me thinks I should be wearing these. I then dropped the rest off, they were all lovely things so should sell well.
Have a wash on and will peg that out soon. Whilst out walking the dog yesterday I found a rucksack picnic bag in a field, it was completely empty and was in a cow field - not somewhere you would have a picnic. I brought it home and ran it through the machine on a quick wash although it was very clean anyway. DH is using an old one of these to take his things to work in so this will be a replacement when needed. I think it had been pinched, emptied and chucked and it would have just gone to waste if left there.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Should have NSD today - am at work later and this morning have aunt coming to collect things from my Nan's house for my cousin, so no spends.
Currently sunny, but forecast shows rain from around 11 -4pm..... we shall see. I have no laundry, anyway (well, about 1/3 load, so not doing that!) Will do last of ironing (dried overnight) to catch up tv when smalls are in bed tonightI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Since 1st April I have decluttered two bags full of books that were recycled to me from another lady and can now be re-recycled to the c/s. 4 bags of old clothes (mostly kids) have been thrown into the clothes recycling bin on a supermarket car park. All gone and out of the house.
Simplifying my space.
Going to look through my boys' stuff for a wedding outfit for another mum - she mentioned this morning she has had a surprise wedding reception for a family member sprung on her, and she has nothing 'smart' enough to get away with for her son. I am sure I still have waistcoats and cravats knocking about the house somewhere, so will spend 10 mins looking, and hopefully will be able to help her out. Proper 'community store cupboard' things. If we could all borrow a 10 yr old's suit when weddings and funerals pop up, and not have them sitting in the back of a wardrobe, it would be a better world methinks. Anyway, she has little money and I think I can help out, so that is my good deed for the day so I can go kick a fairy with impunity.
Have a great day Turtles4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Sorry, i still haven't updated my signature (on the later pile with doing home delivery orders for me and mum and going through the holiday brochures now we know we can manage - we've both been so ill that mum thought we would have to stop having holidays).
The Attendance Allowance forms have been completed - I need to go through and check I've filled every box that needs filling and finished off a couple of paragraphs then get it all photocopied (in case they lose it of phone to ask anything) and sent off. Decide it would be better to sleep on it as mistakes and omissions would be easier to pick up. Spent a couple of hours sitting on a hard chair, facing mum and asking questions about what she can and can't do, in the advert breaks in her programme (after I'd filled in the bulk of the form).
Actually killed a pen. The pen I started with ran out mid afternoon. Was putting away some of mum's non-urgent filing (had to take it all to my house when her partner with dementia still lived with her, now it's gone back to her's), broke off at 9.15 pm to ask what time the door alarm set (originally to help if her partner got out in the night but it would go off if someone broke in and the control room would contact me if mum did not answer).
Spent 10 frantic minutes gathering all the stuff I thought I needed most into 3 bags (I took 5) and got out and locked up to save mum having to explain to the control room and confirm that she was all right.
Came home, ate fell asleep, remembered at 2 am that I hadn't put my paper bin out (2/3 full) but went back to sleep before mustering the willpower to put something over my t-shirt, grab my wellies and take the bin (okay in the backs but as I live next to a car park, when I turn to leave bins by the gable of the end house there's a cctv pole with 5 cameras covering both ways up the street, the back of the library and the car park - not having the operators laughing at my bum).
Have had my pills and something to eat (from the things in the bottom of the bag) but still need to shower and dress, check the form and find the energy to get myself downstairs. Not sure how much of that will happen today, it may be tomorrow (have just emptied the bath so the shower will happen, dolly).
Monday was a spend day because I bought drinks (water and diet coke, mum's tap water is undrinkable and I would have had to fill bottles from my tap to take with me) and some ys food (stir fry which I had raw with balsamic vinegar) to add to the fridge odds and ends and cupboard bits I took to mum's. Yesterday was a SFD as I circulated between the dining room, the reclining chair and the hard chair with doing paperwork and looking for more information/ evidence.
My arthritic shoulder and arm are really painful today so i have more knowledge about the 'limits' of what I can do.
I left some food bits at mum's. I know I have fish, baked potatoes and veg in the freezer but not much else - hence the shop before I went to mum's.
