I've been awol as I've tried to stay off tech whilst we were away. Lovely time, back to some simple pleasures. Big jigsaw for 50p which we then gifted to someone else once complete, board games and picnics out :T
Lots of decluttering, 2 bags to friend, lots of items sold at a desktop sale and a bag ready for cs :T if you ever think cs is not worth it, I had an email saying they sold my last (half bin bag) of stuff for £39 so always worth it :T
Simplicity - lots of that on hols, see above. Also amazing day out yesterday with friends. 6 smalls, a picnic and a couple of balls. Happy days. Only spend was a round of ice creams.
Need to do some more work In the garden to tidy it up. Will need to invest in a couple of plants but have seen some for £3.99 that normally retail for about £20 so will get one of those when area is clear. Other plants will be edibles, tomatoes, courgettes, spinach probably.0 -
Morning all,
Got home from holiday yesterday to this glorious weatherAnimals were all very pleased to be home. Popped to the shops and got lots of yellow sticker bargains so will eat those over the next few days. Need to food shop today for other food.
Bought ethical toilet rolls online from a supplier who recycled office paper to make them. Want to be more conscious in my purchases.
Looking forward to drying the washing on the line and spending time outside todayLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

mothernerd - sorry to hear about your mums partner.
apple - I will be working full days Thursday and Friday so I can cycle or run Monday to Wednesday, run Thursday evening have Friday off and then cycle at the weekend. I will be upping the cycling now until the clocks change back but I need to still run as it gets hard if I don't do it regardless of what other exercise I do. I have decided to go in Thursday and tell them how it is, I tend to be quiet at first and everyone thinks I am very prim and straight laced but I am not, they just don't tell you all the finer details that you need to know when you temp.
Today will be a NSD - there I've said it now. DS has asked for an Easter egg hunt in the garden so I am all set for that, he has asked me repeatedly and I am pretending that he can't do it because he is too old. Last year he told me he was too old, he is 13 now but must have regretted that decision.
Mine and DH's winter parkas are in the wash and will dry on the line today, even if it gets colder we won't need those now. We are then heading for the loft but will limit the time spent there as it will be hot and I want to get in the garden and plant some seeds.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Dolly - belated congrats on the new job.
Mothernerd - so sorry to hear about your mum's partner.
Hope everyone with hay fever is surviving. I never got it until about 3 years ago and now I seem to have it from February to October every year. It's not unbearable, I'm just sneezy and congested ALL of the time...
I've had another couple of days off, enjoying the simple things in life like the nice weather which has finally arrived just as the school holidays are ending, spending time with family and friends and doing a deep clean of my kitchen (not that I enjoyed that or that it was simple). However, I feel as though I'm losing my grip on my frugal ways... I've noticed a couple of 'treats' sneaking into my life and I'm a bit annoyed with myself. Must make more effort.
Anyway - Happy Easter to all. Hope you have a fantastic day, whatever you're up to. I will be preparing ys dinner for me and the kids and eating far too much chocolate. My kids are spoilt and I feel obliged to help them wade their way through the chocolate...Not giving up

CCL - oh well, needs must and all that.
mothernerd - sorry to hear about your mum's partner
Dolly - congratulations
Today on veg watch, I have 4 tomato sproutlings and 5 courgettes. I have found a glass table and 4 folding chairs at the secondhand warehouse up the road for £40 and I will reward myself with it if it is still there on Friday. Then not tell anyone and see how long it takes people to notice (simple pleasures). All routine and focus has flown out the window. Everyone is fed, nobody is bored (apart from me), so, today I am disappearing into books, writing lists, and making plans, well, plotting and scheming is making plans. There are 3 different types of flapjacks in the kitchen, enough food in the house to do all meals today and tomorrow, so I am declaring early my NSD 8 today.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Kerry Woman -thanks for replying about the jetlag. We seem to have 1 night crashed out followed by 1 night of sleeping rather badly at the mo.
Today I am grateful for a lovely day, for wood-preservering much of the garden fence, for both both sets of noisy neighbours being out for the day, for seedlings starting to show, for getting lots of vit D, for dh buying himself a rather smart tablet with extra pennies he's earned.
Still pondering the grab part of this month...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Hi all :j
Simplicity - think about the simple pleasures in your life which you really appreciate, friendship, family, cake. Focus on those this month as much as you can (maybe not too much cake though). Watching an old film tonight on TV with DH, not really my thing but he was keen. Rest of the film viewed, just as dire as the beginning. Didn't comment..
Persevere - I know that trying to reach your goal can sometimes seem never ending but try to remember that each time you waste money/time it can take you further away from what you really want for the long term. No money spent today.
Reduce - I wouldn't be me if I wasn't asking you to reduce. Think about what you really need and what will be left at the end, is there a better way to consume. Used up all food from stores - not what was planned as too hot for a roast meal. Didn't manage to break anything today.
Invest - in yourself, your family, your home - the things that really matter to you. Time in the greenhouse planting seeds until it got too warm. Happy days. Fixed irritating wonky staging with application of old house brick.
New - new month, new beginning. Don't look back at past mistakes and failures, there is nothing that can be done about them, learn from them and move on. Rarely look back - & when/if I do it's as if that stuff happened to someone else, which of course I was then. I'm stupidly optimistic..
Grab - take life by the horns. Do something which takes you outside of your comfort zone at least once this month. Now making a new sweater that is definitely out of my comfort zone. Let's see how that goes. So far so good, but only on the first sleeve. More challenges to come. Just realised have to make doggie coat promised for knitting group when we go away. Now need to search for Aran wool in stash (but pref not cream).
NSDs: now 11/15
NO spending in coffee shops, work canteens, vending machines. If you do it needs to be planned in advance and budgeted for. Never go in coffee shops, no canteen, don't use vending machines either. But I still waste money! No spends today.
