  • Whilst I agree that cashback deals are a risk, I did not expect CNM to lie and cheat me out of my cashback. I have posted many times about my dealings with the company and was just one of many victims of the "missing page" scam. This action was criminal and several employees must have been involved. Those that did not follow the T&C's I had no sympathy for but when you follow them to the letter and get rejected - well enough said.

It is a game; people thinking there all they have to do is sign and they'll get the value of hundreds of pounds for zilch whilst the dealer pays for them must be rather stupid to say the least in this day and age. I really don't think any retailer is likely to put on their website that they expect most people not to actually get their cashback - even though it's obvious most won't! In this day and age I think it is reasonable for people to take responsibility and check things out before they rush in. What about all the people who bought Rover cars (with warranties) just before the company collapsed? All that matter is what options people have and accurate information to that end. I have warned people not to take up cashback deals unless they really undertsand them. I have written a "guide" on this forum to make people aware of lots of things relating to cashback deals. I am not running around seeking others to blame for my mistakes - neither are you. I know others who aren't either. I simply dislike people throwing wild accusations around which are generally based on ignorance and stupidity.
  • Can we PLEASE get back on the topic.

It is now clear from the updated website we will not see any of are remainder of our cashback.

"There is no possibility that the company will be able to make any meaningful payment to any creditor, whether consumer or supplier."

Therefore the only logically thing we can do is reduce are outgoings. Have people got in touch with their network. How would you explain the situation and should we push to cancel the contract completely?

C'mon stay on topic here guys.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
  • I called the network yesterday and am waiting for a call-back from the special team set up for the previous collapse. I don't think Vodafone was aware of this one when I called so it will take them a little time to react. Now that the notice is there and very clear I had already decided to go for cancellation if possible. However, there's a history on this on the dialamobile and mobilephonesontheweb thread (if you can find the useful bits - the second one might be the best for that). The £5 option will be great for many. I'm not sure about the other networks - but don't think they were as forgiving last time and so far haven't read anything which suggests a different approach this time. I also took legal advice earlier to check several things (most of which few will probably have thought of). e.g. technically if connected for less than 180 days you might be liable for a charge from the dealer for changing tarif or cancelling (whatever the network might do). There are a few other things as well, but I don't think it advisable to put those on general display. The one thing I didn't bother asking about was suing anyone - it's an obvious non-starter though some on here will be shouting about doing it. Bottom line now is reduce the damage via network generosity (that's what it is to anyone who thinks otherwise!) and get on with life.

I have rung T-mobile and they said they will not reduce it until the 11th month, three said the they wouldnt do until the 9th. This doesnt help the situation, afterall it is the companys fault for joing with these phone companies. If anyone has any luck with other companies please keep us in touch

Guys, could we use one thread to cover the whole CNM/PBD liquidation problem as it'll be slightly easier to work out what to do next rather than having 3-4 different threads on the go. There's a thread already started below and I suggest we all use that to discuss the issue:

  • Are you a troll taking the !!!!, or just extremely thick?

The cashback was not a gift, but part of the contract people signed up to. Almost everyone would not have signed up to the deal if the cashback was not part of it.

Some, if not most of the staff deserve to lose their jobs (at least) because they must have been involved in the scam / 2nd pages mysteriously disappearing.

I called on Wednesday at 3.30pm and was given all sorts of advise about sending in my first claim, but not a word that I was to lose out on nearly half a grand.

you what??? i got my cashback not that thick..
