Did you phone the number I quoted,I found it in another thread which refered to dialamobile another firm that went bust a couple of months ago.when I phoned and told them Phonnebox direct had ceased trading and could they help, the girl mentioned Dialamobile and I think she thought phonebox where part of that company.I mentioned the £5 a month deal saying that I knew somebody else who had been given it,she altered my contract there and then.I would keep phoning and emphasise the fact you know somebody who has been given the deal and not the fact you are with Phonebox direct.
yes, they wont help until they have been informed by the administrators
  • i think you for get thta the cash back they offer is a gift, its not as if your paying that money per month for nothing, its a free phone and line rental!! you might have lost your cash back but think of all the staff which have lost their jobs so near to christmas and probably got families to feed! i have been with phone box direct for years and had full cash back paid on 5 phones, if you claim correctly you get your money!!!!
  • Are you a troll taking the !!!!, or just extremely thick?

The cashback was not a gift, but part of the contract people signed up to. Almost everyone would not have signed up to the deal if the cashback was not part of it.

Some, if not most of the staff deserve to lose their jobs (at least) because they must have been involved in the scam / 2nd pages mysteriously disappearing.

I called on Wednesday at 3.30pm and was given all sorts of advise about sending in my first claim, but not a word that I was to lose out on nearly half a grand.

Do you actually think the staff knew they'd be closing when they spoke to you??? If i knew i was about to be made redundant in a couple of hours i don't think i'd be answering the phones!!!

And there is no need to call people thick - that's just plain rude!

Lets not get personal now, everyone is in the same situation and so we should work together. I have contacted CAB and they said that there is nothing we can do, what we need to do is plead with the line rental companies to help us. I have rung watchdog and if everyone does the same they can help us, by persuading phone companies to give a bit of Christmas spirit and help us. The number for watchdog is 020 8535 1000.

Lets group together and hope that we can reduce our loss

  • It's a sad endictment of human behaviour that the masses always blame everyone else except themselves. What is it about something for nothing deals which takes from them the little intelligence that some people have?

I agree. Blame yourselves if you must blame someone. No-one is more guilty that you! Before you ask (and if you don't already know) I am also a customer and not a member of staff. I am absolutley certain that the people attacking the company, the staff and whoever else they can think of would be the worse kind of person in that situation were they on the other side of the fence. The comoany is gone; people have lost their jobs, their business and others cashback. Yet still most customers can only point the finger at the owners and staff as if they've been made millionaires by this event. Maybe such people should try to run a business themselves instead of merely attacking those who do and fail!

If you don't like the game, don't play. Nothing much worse than a bad loser!

The people to be applauded on here are the ones who are copying out factual information (e.g. the administrators exceptionally helpful statement) and I thank them for that. It is VERY useful information!
  • My dad has been waiting for his cheque since august, received the email saying it will be sent in 10days and thats 3 months ago. Every time hes called its a new excuse. So the staff must have known something is amiss ????

    i fully agree with this.
it's common sense that taking out these cashback deals is a risk, it was your choice to take that risk. All the threads on here where people haven't got their cashback should tell people this. i do feel sorry for the staff who've all lost their jobs, most likely without any warning at all, so close to christmas.
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

I see some of your points - I think most people are just upset and shocked that they are not going to get cashback. I've been "cashbacking" (if thats a word) for 4 years and I've saved a fortune, what annoyed me was that this was the first cashback I'd got my girlfriend to sign up to after years of PAYG, explaining that it would be cheaper!!!

The first message I wrote after finding out about this said although I was hacked off, this didn't compare to finding out that I'd lost my job before Christmas, and I still believe that but then my girlfriend was waiting for £168 that, without wishing to be clever, we can absorb this without problem, but if I had kids and was waiting for cash overdue by months to buy Christmas presents I probably wouldn't be so happy.

To say it's a game is a little harsh - nowhere on the website does it say that you may not get your cash and with the bit about how long they had been trading and who they were partners of, I'm sure this persuaded some people into making a decision that they could borderline afford.

Like you say calling names and fighting amongst ourselves on this forum won't help, but most people's first instinct IS to get angry. I just hope something is done for this companies employees and customers manage to get something sorted with the networks.
