I'm afraid part of this may be your own fault for not enforcing your claims as soon as they were overdue. Never let a company mess you around or you are the one who will suffer, not them. It also pays to follow what's going on when you have a cashback deal; initially Vodafone were extremely helpful (unlike the other networks) and you have to strike while the iron's hot. Finally, it was always a high-risk company to do a cashback deal with; there were plainly a VERY small outfit despite the blurb clearly (but unsuccessfully) trying to make out they were a much large outfit. You'll have to put it down to experience I'm afraid. Should there ever be any more worthwhile cashback deals in the future (and IF you decided to do one of them) hopefully next time you will at least reduce your exposure and the risks.

I am a PBD victim with 2 expensive Orange contracts, still with 5 months to run.

I am wondering whether there is any point, this far ahead of the end of the contracts trying to negotiate a new deal (perhaps for 18 months) on the basis that they effectively release me from the current contracts and we start again with some sort of retention deal.

T-Mobile once did this, although a fair bit closer to the end of the contract.

Is there any point at all trying this with Orange and what might I hope to get ??

Better to know what others have got and what to expect before one tries ...

In any event I meant to post this as a separate thread as it is not PBD specific !
  • Have just been offered a goodwill gesture from Three of £150 cashback to put towards my bills of £25 per month, but as a result they're extending my contract for an additional 6 months til Jan 09. Hubby got the same offer. We're just looking at it as better than nothing, even though it's not really worth a lot to us as we only phone each other and neither of us tend to use up many of the 100 minutes and 100 texts and never use the 25 video texts or downloads (technophobes!). If we didn't already have an AI home phone contract we'd make sure we'd use every last minute, etc up. Have certainly learnt my lesson the hard way - I got the phones on a full £300 cashback deal from CNM as I thought that as long as I followed the rules it would work out cheaper for us than PAYG!

Well they have offered me !!!!!! all despite having reported CNM being in adminstration.

Actually, when I called up to cancel my contract, they did tell me they were working on something, and if I cancelled then I wouldn't be able to receive it - however, they couldn't tell me what it was...

I should be ok tho, as I have now accepted a retention deal, so I will be contacting them about the £150.

As a result of my email I got offered the £150 for an extra 6 months on my contract, on top of my retention deal! This works out at £10 for life for a minimum 24 months(!), with £150 credit on the account, so nothing to pay for 15 months ;)

As far as my wife's account goes, they said they would only escalate the cashback complaint if she agrees to an upgrade of £15 for 18 months first, and even then there is no guarrantee of the £150 cashback redemption offer. That works out at £8.75/month for 24 months if they make the offer. However, my wife is more interested in getting web access than loads of minutes, so I am looking at getting a web n walk redemption deal from dialaphone as this works out at about the same price but for only 12 months and with a 1gig data allowance thrown in.
  • Hi guys

My missus is in the same boat as a few of you in relation to Vodafone and PBD. She has called them numerous times going back a month now and still waiting for a call.

She just want's out and £35 a month is too expensive especially as we have a nipper on the way. Does anyone have a direct phone # for them?

Alternatively I have seen on here about a strong worded email. Any chance anyone can pm it to me please and I'll get her to amend it slightly and send it over.

    Cheers

  • My strongly worded email hasn't worked unfortunately, so I've sent another!!!
Let's hope this does the trick

  • i finally succeeded in getting a call back from vodafone after waiting 2 months. I was told that because i was calling every week to find out why i wasn't getting a call back( told that I'd get a call back within 48 and 72 hours), they were putting me in the back of the queue each time. Ive now been put on a new 12 month contract at £17.50, which i'm happy with.
