I've just had my call back from the "special" team at Voda, and I've been offered a reduced rate of £17.50 for line rental for the remainder of my contract. Initially, I was offered a brand new 12 month contract at £17.50 and when I asked if they could do better, they offered the same price for the remainder (8 months). When I asked about the £5.00 I was advised that it wasn't for "Mobile Affiliate" customers, but another firm who had also gone into liquidation. All in all, I think I've been treated very well - they didn't have to do anything to help us out, so I'm very grateful.
  • aww man this sucks....I had an email from them on the 31st Oct saying my cheques for the 2nd installment were on the way from CNM....however just discovered on the website, and here now that they've gone bust....

I need to read through this full topic though now, although I'm currently only on page 2 so far. but can I ask for some help please.

I received my first cheques several weeks before, 2 amounts of £84. These cheques have not yet been put in the bank and was going to do that this morning.

Will they even clear do you think? That will suck as I was unable to get to the bank the last few weeks as my bank is in the middle of nowhere, and means I might be down another £168 :(

    I really hope so.

    regards,
    Tuck

I would suggest you check with your bank first that they don't charge for cheques that bounce after you pay them in and then pay them in asap. Yes there is a very real chance they will bounce but if you don't try you will definitely be out of pocket for £168. Do post back to let us know what happens to the cheques. I do so hope they clear for you.

Arghhh! I have only just realised why my cheque from last month has not come through......bummer. This is bad news :(
  • OK - I am now in shock. Just got back from a 4 weeks away, hoping to cash 3 Phonebox Direct cheques upon my return.

    Then I see this thread!!!

Can I ask a couple of quick questions?

I have 1 contract with 3 Network & 2 Vodafone Contracts (all 12 months) - and I am 6-8 months into these contracts.

No cashbacks were paid - I got pathetic letters saying I was late etc (which of course I wasnt as I have sent hundreds of claims in on time over the last 3-4 years)

    1) I am currently paying £35/Month for each (i.e £105/Month!!!)

This is money we simply cannot afford as my personal & financial circumstances have changed (for the worse) in the last 3 months

What is the LATEST state of Play with these operators - Ive been through the entire thread, and havve O IDEA what to do.

I dont think I can mentally cope with this.

    Thanks

Finally got a call from Vodaphone. Offered £17.50 for 12 months. Told them I can't do it. Was then offered £17.50 for the remaining months. Told them I can't do it. Was then told to bog off and just accept it :D So no £5 line rental here despite having 5 contracts with them.

Was told I can't downgrade or rescind my contract either.

Asked them if they'd backdate the £17.50 on the day I called them (Saturday) and was told to bog off.

They refuse to admit any liability/culpability/etc and "warn against cashback deals".

T-Mobile were less than helpful. They refuse to admit any liability/culpability/etc and "warn against cashback deals". When I informed them what Vodaphone were doing I was promptly told that their customer services teams on the phones can't deal with it and that I should write in. Unfortunately phone cut off before I could get the email address that I should write to. Will call tomorrow and get it. But yeah - looks like they won't budge at all.

Nothing to do with Vodaphone [actually part blame resides with their text message account information system that gives you a ridiculously stupid "current account" info display from THREE days ago] and everything to do with my stupidity....but my bills this/last month were extortionate.

This whole fiasco + these last bills + so on has left me with a more than bitter taste in my mouth re mobile phone usage. I'll be sticking to VOIP and landlines for voice calls from now on ... and text-only mobile messaging (perhaps a tariff like web-n-go as well?) for on-the-go usage.

Oh this morning I have had 2 txts saying

VODAPHONE CUSTOMER: YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR A COMPLETELY FREE PHONE. 1ST COME 1ST SERVED - CALL NOW 08700 200 002. T&CS APPLY

It is a scam, but I just wondered how many of us received it?

    googled the number and found
    http://caitlin.kicks-!!!.org/?p=206

oh it wont let me post the http properly because it is a small donkey begining a ending s with an s in the middle where the !!! s are if that makes sense.

when I read the messages found this link

    www.expressmobiles.uk.com.

do you think there is a connection? or am I just paranoid?

not sure if I should have posted this here so don't all jump on me at once if you think it would have been more appropriate some where else.

I got this on a number of my Vodaphone contracts! Don't know how we're related - but it seems they have obtained our numbers somehow JUST as M.A. go into liquidation.

Don't know if that's a coincidence or not.
  • Its getting a bit more than annoying now that people are still blaming everyone else except themselves and either the company they purchased their phone through ie CNM. Vodafone and other airtime operators do NOT have any responsibility towards you. The contract you held for the cashback was entirely separate from the one you hold with Vodafone.

Nobody is being offered the £5 deal anymore with Vodafone, you either accept the £17.50 deal or go without. The other operators are not even offering that. Vodafone have been extremely lenient in this matter and should be applauded for their stance.

You took out the cashback contract, you take the consequences. It was always a gamble and unfortunately it didn't come off for many hundreds of people (including myself).

You can't live in the past, its done. Move on and don't take risks like that again if you can't afford to lose.

Sorry to be harsh but this thread is now 18 pages long and there is tons of helpful info in there, read it and don't keep accusing the airtime providers of being unreasonable.

This isn't aimed specifically at anyone inparticular, its a general comment

Well done you. Just realised I wont be getting any cashback from PBD now so will be calling Vodaphone to downgrade my contract. I cant afford to lose rthe cashback either but you win some you lose some. Now on to fight The Mobile Outlet for my sons cashback ( he cant afford to lose it!). I was interested to find that when you try to go to PBD it mentions 2 other phone companies you can try and 1 is The Mobile Outlet! WOnder if there is a connection? Hope not!

The Mobile Outlet appears to still be up and running so you may be lucky and get the cashback due. How long it may take and how much chasing you have to do is another matter entirely but I don't know anything about TMO.

When you call Vodafone don't ask to downgrade your contract, thats not what they are doing. Ask for them to take your details and pass them to the team dealing with the problems relating to PBD and them going into administration. As previously mentioned, they will call you back and should agree to change contract to £17.50 a month, its not a downgrade as you keep your contracted minutes and texts. Good Luck, let us know how you get on.

With regards to the Vodaphone contracts you can see the various posts that seem to indicate you will get reduction to £17.50 if u call.

I am unlucky enough to be with 3. It was mentioned that I may be able to reduce my tariff in stages from month 9 by another poster. I tried to arrange this but was told that I can only reduce my tariff from month twelve. I am on a twelve month contract so this tells you all you need to know about 'customer services' at 3. He made it sound as if he was doing me a favour!

Trust me, if you are finding it difficult to cope at the moment I would strongly advise that trying to communicate with 3 is the last thing you should do.

    Good luck
