That's why I kept a note of the name and time and date on my call back. Basic principles with everything to do with mobile phones and companies.

Yeah but even then I think thats not enough. You HAVE to record the call if you want to be absolutely certain. If you write their name and number, nothing stops them not writing the necessary notes on your account and you could still lose out. Even if they give their number (btw most of them dont give their direct number anyway) it tends to be a general main number and the chances are you can't get through to them. Even if you can, they can claim they can't remember you as they speak to literally 100s of customers a day!

I've only just found out too due to my 2nd lot of Cashback claim form being returned to sender! They hadn't even paid my 1st claim :(

So I called Vodafone, the guy didn't have any information on Phoneboxdirect so said I couldn't do anything until the 9th month!
Called back after reading up on here and spoke to a lady, she said the same thing but this time gave me a number to call regarding the recent Cashback Claim issues (generic by the sounds of it), it's a third party apparently and sounds like they'll only give advice on options:
08000936080 (only open weekdays 9am-6pm), so I haven't spoken to anyone yet.
I also just sent an email via the Vodafone Contact Us form and wrote everything down so hoping for a call back from them.

EDIT - Just rang 191 again and spoken to someone else, he then said he's sent a Memo & added a code for someone to call me back within 72 hours (although possibly a bit later next week as it's the weekend now).
So at least my query has been registered now.

So if you get someone that sounds like they don't know what they are doing, call again or ask to speak to a Supervisor!

I wouldn't advise anyone to bother with the 0800 09306080 number above because it is Dextra, the distribution company for mobile affiliates. They know nothing about what to offer and cannot even access your mobile account. Someone at Vodafone gave me that one last week. The only vodafone number to call is 191

It maybe the weekend but they should still ring you back within the 72 hours. I rang last saturday and they called me on the following Tuesday.
  • Have a look at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=606115 with regards to what MP's are proposing.
  • I thought I would double check with Vodafone that my account shows my line rental at £5 per month now. Received an email back stating that it has all been sorted. Gives me a bit more faith that it will be right in December and thereafter. Apparently its going to be done by a discount to the original line rental each month of £25.73.

    Quote:

    Good evening X
Thanks for your email to Vodafone about the reduction of your December bill to £5.00. I'd like to help.
I have checked your account and can see that a discount of £25.73 has been applied to your account which is why your line rental has been reduced to £5.00.
I'd also like to tell you that the discounts are effective from the end of every month, which is why the discount of £25.73 will reflect in your next bill i.e.; in your December bill.
Please note your bill for the month of December will include £5.00 line rental plus the additional usage charge.
I hope the above information about your December bill helps and should you need any further assistance in the meantime, please feel free to contact me.
    Kind regards,

    Vodafone Customer Services

Having worked their figures out its even better than I thought.

They charge £29.79 line rental before tax
Monthly discount agreed as per email is £25.73
    That leaves £4.06
    VAT at 17.5% on £4.06 is £0.71

    So £4.06 + £0.71 = £4.77 per month line rental

Maybe the discount in December is very slightly more than a normal month because it took effect before the end of the month but, who knows with Vodafone!!!!!!!

I just had a call from Vodafone, and they have offered to lower the amount to half price - £17.99 a month, effective tonight!
I did ask if they could do it any lower, but in the endthought it was good of them to get back so quick and about the right price others have been offered so have said OK.

My question to the £5 a month offered to some people, did you have to push for this or
was it just offered? Many have said they only get offered £17.99 (as I have).
  • Personally, I think that Vodafone quickly realised that they cocked up with the £5 offer. They probably initially assumed that it was the same as Dialamobile, where contracts were signed but then shredded, whereas Terms and Conditions were displayed on PBD and CNM website, and you had to click "I have read and understand the terms and conditions" before the order was completed.

Early callers, such as Big Dreams, managed to get thier call into Voda at the right time.

The offers that they are making now, are generous as legally they do not have to offer anything....

You are right, I did get in there quickly, they went bust on the wednesday and I phoned on the saturday morning. I was very lucky but even if I had been offered the half price option it would have been very generous of Vodafone as legally they don't have to offer anything, as those on other networks have found out.
  • Just offered 12 months no new phone for £17.50pm or rest of contract (4months) £17.50pm.

after looking at what texts and mins we use over the weekend we decided we didn't need as many as the 500m and 250 txts that we are on so are going to take the 4months and ask them to price match the £10 virgin deal for media customers in the last month of our contracts.

My partner and I have one of these CNM contracts each. I am gutted as I did one last year that was fine (bit stressfull at times) and had convinced him to do one for the first time and it went sooo wrong. Luckily we went in with the attitude it was a gamble.

I did cheekily ask if they would do the price match thing now and they said no. But hey it was worth an ask. She did say ring retentions 60 days before end of contract and see what they could do.

    Good luck every one.

Where can we find the info on the £10 deal, I can't see it on their website. Is it only available if you are a broadband customer?
  • Oh this morning I have had 2 txts saying

VODAPHONE CUSTOMER: YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR A COMPLETELY FREE PHONE. 1ST COME 1ST SERVED - CALL NOW 08700 200 002. T&CS APPLY

It is a scam, but I just wondered how many of us received it?

    googled the number and found
    http://caitlin.kicks-!!!.org/?p=206

oh it wont let me post the http properly because it is a small donkey begining a ending s with an s in the middle where the !!! s are if that makes sense.

when I read the messages found this link

    www.expressmobiles.uk.com.

do you think there is a connection? or am I just paranoid?

not sure if I should have posted this here so don't all jump on me at once if you think it would have been more appropriate some where else.
