MEP parking BP stansted

Options
Was trying to be resourceful posting in established thread. The realised the suggestion of confusion.

Ok. So had similar situation at Stansted BP. I made a purchase in store parked in allocated bar. Was unaware of signage. Sat in car, ate a sandwich, drank a coffee and got on my way. I was there 45 mins. I know understand it's 30 mins limit..
So I followed the template appeal as suggested. Got rejected and received popla ref.
Where can I find the popla appeal template. Or is McMahon excellent appeal based on it?
P.s
I asked in my enitial appeal to MEP they supplied me with proof of positioning of all signs. They sent me a generic pic of a sign.
Kind regards.

As per my last reply, I wanted (needed) you to read what I said to read, first.

This is far too quick to post a new thread yet.

My advice involved searching the forum, reading the POFA and showing us your POPLA draft and telling us if it's a POFA PCN or not (having checked the timeline and wording). It will take you a couple of hours at least!

    :)

  • I don't have a digital copy. And haven't got as far as popla appeal. That's why I was asking about McMahon's letter. Was it from a template etc.
    It was a PCN. I haven't made a draft.
As I put in my OP I was on the site for 45 mins in allocated space. The PCN is because I stayed over 30 mins.

A question that I hope may be more straight forward. Can MEP charge the rate of 100 rather than the discounted 60 for not paying and taking to popla. Should I lose that appeal. And paid in the suggested time frame.

I noticed the signage they sent copy of, bares no mention of operating with land owners legal consent. I believe it is required to display that.

I will read through as suggested. I just thought somebody might be able to confirm if McMahon's was from a template supplied here or work of his/her own?

    Regards

    It's not MEP it's MET.

And yes if you lost at POPLA, (so what?) then MET would ask for £100 (and you'd ignore them). No-one here cares or even bothers to talk about any stupid 'discount'!

Except for our 100% discount when you win. Stop trying to weigh up the money, you won't be paying a penny.
    It was a PCN.
Windscreen PCN and no Notice to Keeper yet?

What date was the windscreen PCN?
    I haven't made a draft.
You will, as that's when you will get advice from us. Don't look at OLD POPLA appeals and stop being blinkered to one by someone called 'McMahon' who we can't remember and might be YEARS old and nothing like your case!

I told you the keywords to search the forum to find RECENT MET POPLA appeals.

It will have been built using the template appeal points in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #3 and bits from other winning POPLA appeal points from around the forum.

They can more or less do whatever they want. Almost every PPC puts the charge up to the full amount once the second stage appeal (POPLA or the IAS in the case of an IPC Operator) has gone in.
I noticed the signage they sent copy of, bares no mention of operating with land owners legal consent. I believe it is required to display that.
Signage is always an important appeal point, as the wording on the signage is the purported legal contract between the driver and the PPC. But mentioning ‘landowner’s legal consent’ is not something I recognise as being essential. Have you checked the latest requirements in the BPA Code of Practice?

Do you have your own photos of the signage?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

  • Ok.

Thanks. It was a postal PCN to my company. The vehicle is registered to them. I'll get all the info together and get back with something that's less generic. Thank you

Hang on that is different, you never said that.

Have you had a PCN sent to you, since you appealed in your name?

Or did you appeal in the company name?

Who has the POPLA code, you or the company?

Did they write to MET naming you as hirer, or did they just pass the PCN to you and let you respond (in their name or in yours as hirer/lessee)?

  • I was driving company vehicle.
PCN was posted to them. They didn't tell them who was driving nor contact them.
I'm responsible for my fines. So the forwarded paperwork to me. I made appeal from generic email, didn't give anyone's name apart from giving reg and PCN number. Stating on my companies behalf, they wasn't prepared to declare who was driving but it wasn't the registered keeper driving. In the letter I put that the driver claims their was no reasonable signs, and explained receipts and proof of purchase at shop can be supplied.
They replied, saying as I've ( there was no name or admission ) admired the car was there over 30 mins I'm guilty and case is closed in their eyes.
I will put all paperwork up here tomorrow.
Thanks so much for your attention.
  • I used the template as suggested. Obviously not using any names etc

So you are telling us that some random unknown person has sent an anonymous email to MET?

They will continue to harass the Registered Keeper in that case.

    Is that what you want?
  • No they aren't. They've generated a refusal of appeal and given me a popla number.
I followed the info on this site as suggested for newbies. Stating not to disclose who the driver is
